Job summary

Vertiv Corporation is seeking a Field Technician in South Carolina to assist in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service and troubleshooting of 480VAC/15KVAC switchgear. You will work on PDU, ATS, PDC, breakers, relays, PLCs and meters, with a focus on safety and customer rapport.

The role requires practical electrical/electronic experience, ability to read diagrams, and lifting of heavy loads. On-site duties include travel, field changes, and continuous collaboration with the team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • ASMET valid driver's license required.
  • Mechanical & electrical aptitude.
  • 2+ years of hands-on electronic experience or field services.
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies.
  • Familiarity with electrical/electronic test equipment and fundamentals.
  • Must read and interpret electrical diagrams and blueprints.
  • Ability to lift at least 50 pounds on a regular basis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in start-up commissioning, integration, and emergency service.
  • Troubleshoot Vertiv electrical switchgear 480VAC/15KVAC and related devices.
  • Maintain rapport with customers, coworkers, and sales reps; communicate with supervisors.
  • Follow company guidelines for scheduled maintenance and field changes.

Job description

POSITION SUMMARY

A Field Technician is responsible for assisting in start-up commissioning, integration, emergency service and troubleshooting of Vertiv electrical switchgear 480VAC/15KVAC, including PDU, ATS, PDC, circuit breakers, protective relays, plc, meters and other automated devices as well as mechanical repairs and modifications under the direction of senior technicians. The FT is required to establish, promote, and maintain excellent rapport with all customers, co-workers, sales representatives and others as appropriate. The FT is also required to maintain continuous communication with CRC, Supervisor, and direct manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Rely on limited experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Perform a variety of work related tasks
  • Capable of working under general supervision but to a large degree independently
  • Maintain certifications per Job Progression table
TECHNICAL
  • Render on site and phone assistance to customers.
  • Communicate with National Technical Support on equipment issues
  • Perform work related tasks according to company guidelines for scheduled maintenance
  • Implement Field Change Notices according to published guidelines
  • Keep current on Safety Bulletins, Safety Field Change Notices, Field Change Notices, and Service Tips
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
  • Standard computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, and Excel

TIME TRAVEL REQUIRED

50% Due to the safety sensitive aspect of the role, candidates are required to successfully pass a drug test prior to employment. In addition, you will also be required to complete and pass a pre-employment background check.
