This mid-level technician role focuses on preventive and corrective maintenance performed from a service truck to keep equipment on the rental ready line. You will work under the shop lead, with responsibilities spanning diagnostics, mechanical repairs, electrical tasks, and accurate reporting of service notes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record; ability to operate a service truck and obtain FMCSA DQF.
• Ownership of hand and air/electric tools to complete repairs and services.
• Ability to drive/operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs.
• Proficiency in Field Service Mechanic C-level tasks.
• Knowledge of electrical/hydraulic systems; ability to read schematics.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and job site environments.

Responsibilities

• Maintain PM schedules for Herc-owned fleet at active job sites.
• Independently perform oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication from the service truck.
• Replace oil/fuel filters, water pumps, thermostats, and radiators onsite.
• Diagnose/repair cooling systems and electrical systems onsite.
• Use computerized tools to trace electrical faults, connections, switches, sensors, and safety interlocks.
• Enter/review work orders and order parts via fleet management system from the field.
• Assist shop lead with damage estimates, repairs, and documentation onsite.
• Produce detailed service reports and repair logs per visit.
• Keep service truck and inventory clean and organized.
• Follow field procedures, protocols, and safety requirements.
