Herc Rentals is seeking a Field Service Mechanic B to serve customer job sites with comprehensive maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics. You will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshoot electrical, hydraulic, and fuel systems, and provide detailed service notes while maintaining safety on site.

You will need hands-on tools, a valid driver's license, and the ability to work on-call. This role offers a strong customer-facing component and opportunities to grow in a nationwide equipment

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Owns a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools.
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, generators, hydraulics, pumps.
• On-call availability to support operational needs.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on Herc fleet at long-term customer job sites.
• Oversee oil changes, lubrication, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and related services.
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment to ensure proper operating condition at the job site.
• Troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and propane systems.
• Recondition and replace parts to return equipment to a safe functioning state.
• Educate customers on proper use of equipment to avoid future breakdowns.
• Analyze wear and tear and address issues before next visit.
• Adhere to safety guidelines at active job sites.
• Maintain a clean, organized work area on site.
• Produce timely service reports and repair logs.
• Follow company procedures and protocols.
• Build positive relationships with customers.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Job Purpose

As a Field Service Mechanic B, you are an expert technician and will assume a support role in product knowledge and standards of quality within the branch. You will serve as a valued resource for utilizing your mechanical expertise to ensure Herc fleet remain in proper operating condition on our customer jobsites, at all times. Field Service Mechanics are dispatched to local jobsites at various times of the day and work independently without direct supervision. This provides the opportunity to build positive relationships with customers all while supporting the growth and improvement of your community.

What you will do

• Maintain a consistent schedule of performing preventative maintenance of all Herc owned fleet at long term customer job sites
• Oversee and conduct oil changes, lubrication of equipment, tire replacements, hose repairs, battery replacements and assorted services
• Diagnose and repair heavy equipment as required to ensure proper operating condition at the job site
• Diagnose and troubleshoot fuel systems, electrical systems, hydraulic systems and propane systems
• Recondition and replace assorted parts to return equipment to a safely functioning state
• Educating customers on proper use of equipment to avoid future breakdowns
• Analyze problem areas for any significant wear or tear and address to ensure proper usage of the equipment until your next scheduled visit
• Adhere to all safety guidelines posted at active jobsite where repairs and maintenance are completed
• Maintain work area on jobsite in a clean and organized manner
• Produce timely and detailed service reports and repair logs
• Follow all company’s filed procedures and protocols
• Build positive relationships with customers
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements

• Highschool diploma or equivalent
• Ability to understand detailed technical schematics, owner manuals, and product warning labels
• Ownership of sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services
• Ability to operate and test equipment such as boom lifts, forklifts, compressors, portable and stationary generators, hydraulics, pumps and assorted tools and equipment
• Ability to be on call to support operational needs
• A valid driver’s license

• Ability to follow up with customers in a timely manner
• Ability to handle assorted tools properly and safely
• Ability to safely lift up to 50 LBs

Pay Range

$28.00-$32.00
