Job summary

BearCom is seeking a Field Service Manager to oversee day-to-day operations in the Field Service Department across the assigned area. You will manage a team of technicians and installers while coordinating with customers, vendors, and Motorola to deliver installation, repair, and service activities.

The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of 2‑way radio systems, RF propagation, and hands-on technical ability. Occasional travel and on‑call duties are expected as part of coverage.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of leadership experience in technical management in the wireless industry or similar.
  • Experience developing and directing new business opportunities via customer interface and requirements gathering.
  • Knowledge of a network of vendor resources.
  • Experience managing complex project implementations.
  • Understanding of business practices P&L responsibility.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of 2-way radio theory and RF propagation.
  • Technical leadership in wireless solutions and multiple 2-way radio technologies.
  • Degree from an accredited college or equivalent; education plus experience acceptable.
  • Proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Security clearance is a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance.
  • Background checks including Motor Vehicle check.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day Field Service operations in assigned area.
  • Lead a technician/installer team with varying levels of competency.
  • Act as liaison between BearCom, Motorola, and end customers.
  • Prepare quotes, bids, and schedules for installations and repairs.
  • Organize and schedule field work and provide field technical support.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and repair wireless equipment in the field.
  • Install and service wireless communications gear including base stations and radios.
  • Deliver FATP, conduct site surveys and document results.
  • Provide training and coaching to field staff.
  • Travel and on-call duties may be required.

As a Field Service Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing of day-to-day operations in the Field Service Department in your assigned area. In this role, you will be responsible for managing a technician team that consists of technicians and installers with varying level of competencies. This position requires extensive interaction with multiple customer organizations, product vendors and manufactures, and with senior management of the company.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage projects and service assignments as needed.
  • Act as direct liaison between BearCom technicians and Motorola or end customer.
  • Work with customers to prepare quotes, bids, and schedules for completing installation and repair tasks.
  • Assist with organizing and scheduling upcoming field work.
  • Provides technical support in field operations.
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Install, maintain and provide technical support and service of wireless communications equipment such as: UHF/VHF and 800/900 MHz analog and digital systems.
  • Operate mobile, portable radio equipment, dispatch consoles, and microwave systems, using both conventional and trunked radio technologies.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and resolve wireless communication equipment problems with customers in a positive and efficient manner.
  • Provide hands‑on and oversight of communications equipment and peripheral hardware installation such as base stations, repeaters, mobile devices, portable devices, wireless broadband devices, and cctv equipment. Analyze and comprehend diagnostic test results in order to repair and program radios and wireless equipment.
  • Deliver and execute customer Functional Acceptance Test Plans (FATP), perform and document results of site surveys and assessments per defined customer requirements in pre‑sales delivery and post installation.
  • Make minor modifications to electronic circuitry per customer requests and/or deploy factory software/firmware updates.
  • Handles training and coaching of field service technicians and installers.
  • Some travel and on call maybe required.
  • Help with other projects as assigned.
