Interstate Power System's is seeking a talented Power Generation Technician/Mechanic for our Carol Stream, Illinois location. The role focuses on operating, maintaining, and repairing power generation equipment driven by diesel engines, with duties spanning troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and on-site repairs.

Ideal candidates have at least 3 years of experience with industrial power generation, diesel/natural gas engines, and automatic transfer switches, plus a set of personal tools.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with industrial power generation sets.
• Experience with diesel and natural gas engines, electrical switch gear, and automatic transfer switches.
• Must have your own set of general tools and strong troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair generators of all makes.
• Perform preventative maintenance and repairs at customer sites with minimal direction.
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify generator, engine, and switch gear components.
• Maintain positive interfaces with service writers, foreman, parts, and customers.
• Keep paperwork up-to-date and comply with certifications and audits.
• Perform related administrative duties and meet physical requirements.

Interstate Power System's is looking for a talented Power Generation Mechanic/Technician(s) for our Carol Stream Illinois location that specializes in generator repairs. We are offering highly competitive wages!

A Power Generation Technician/Mechanic is responsible for operating, maintaining, and repairing equipment used in generating electricity in combination with diesel engines. Their duties include monitoring power generation systems, performing routine maintenance checks, troubleshooting technical issues, and implementing repairs as needed. They ensure that power generation equipment operates efficiently and safely to meet energy demands. Additionally, they may be involved in upgrading systems to improve performance and implementing safety protocols. Strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in various conditions are essential for this role.

Power Generation Technician/Mechanic Job Duties:

• Responsible for troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on all makes of generators.
• Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
• Completing preventative maintenance and repairs on generators or components at the customer site with minimal direction.
• Diagnose, repair, adjust, and modify all components of the generator, engine, and switch gear.
• Positive interface with service writers, foreman, parts department, and customers
• Keep paperwork updated and handed in upon completion.
• Meet requirements for certifications.
• Perform administrative duties as related to role.
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working with industrial power generation sets.
• Experience with diesel and natural gas engines, electrical switch gear, and automatic transfer switches
• Must have your own set of general tools.
• Be able to work with diagnostic computers for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Use computers for web-based training and repair order system.
• Must be physically able to lift and work with no restrictions.
• Clean driving record and the ability to pass a D.O.T. Physical
• Technical degree or certification a plus
• Positive attitude and excellent customer relationship skills
• Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
• The ability to set goals and accomplish them.
• The desire to take advantage of certification opportunities to have the most updated product training.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
• Strong work ethic and the ability to work with little supervision.
