Job summary

B. Braun Medical Inc. seeks a Repair Technician to service Aesculap instruments across STL central facility and mobile locations, with 25%–75% travel. You will repair, refurbish, and document work while maintaining ISO/FDA standards and delivering quality service to hospital staff.

Qualifications

  • AS degree with related coursework or equivalent experience.
  • Five years practical experience in the surgical instrumentation field.
  • Knowledge of CAD and ability to produce drawings.
  • Experience in finishing techniques: grinding, buffing, sandblasting, polishing, and filing.
  • Knowledge of soldering, welding and brazing.

Position Summary

This position will support all Aesculap repair locations throughout the U.S. It will be located in St. Louis (STL) with repair responsibilities for both STL central facility and all mobile and in-house locations; this may require between 25% to 75% travel.

This position consists of a direct reporting structure to Field Service Manager, Midwest and a dotted line reporting to the Field Service Managers of the territory when required to work in a mobile van or in-house locations. Responsibilities include repair and/or refurbishment of surgical instruments and strong interpersonal and communication skills when representing Aesculap during customer interactions with hospital staff. It will be essential to while serving in this role, that there is proficiency in repairs to both the STL and mobile repair service standards to meet customer expectations.

Principal Duties Responsibilities
  • Daily repair of instruments within the Aesculap standards.
  • When working in the STL central facility, performs the essential duties and responsibilities identified in the job description for a Repair Technician at his/her current level.
  • Meet the essential duties and responsibilities
  • Introduces oneself to the key repair contacts within each hospital and presents the attributes of an Aesculap professional and Aesculap quality.
  • At the end of each day, presents to the hospital a repair contract of work performed, documentation of work performed for billing, and seeks feedback.
  • When the permanent repair technician reports for duties, ensure detailed briefing, work instructions and training support is provided.
  • Performs quality control process checks to ensure a high standard of quality.
  • Serves as the primary technical point-of-contact to the account(s) for quality, services performed, demonstrations and service levels provided.
  • Collaborates with the Manager to ensure work schedules are defined and contracted and non-contracted customer expectations are met.
  • Makes recommendation s to the Manager any changes for continued process improvement for establishment/continued long-term relationships with repair accounts.
  • Must comply with applicable ISO and FDA regulations as stated in Quality Manual

Education/Experience
  • Requires a High School Diploma.
  • Graduation from a trade school or an AS degree with related course work or equivalent experience.
  • Previous experience with machining or handling of delicate metal instruments is desirable.
  • Six months refurbishing experience preferred.
  • Completion of Basic Repair Training Program preferred.
  • Minimum of five years practical experience in the surgical instrumentation field.
  • Requires a thorough knowledge of machine and fabrication procedures, involving a variety of stock materials.
  • Requires knowledge of, and ability to perform finishing techniques: grinding, buffing, sandblasting, polishing, and filing.
  • Requires knowledge of, and ability to perform soldering, welding and brazing.
  • Knowledge and understanding of drafting nomenclature and ability to produce technical drawings through manual drafting and computer aided drafting (CAD).
  • Knowledge of metric and standard conversion tables.
  • Knowledge and the ability to design fixtures for machining and welding application to complete projects.
