Job summary

Pace Analytical Services LLC is seeking a skilled instrumentation technician to maintain, diagnose and repair HPLC/UPLC/GC/IC systems across our customer base. You will calibrate equipment, implement improvements and provide technical guidance to staff and clients.

The role requires teamwork and independent problem-solving, with travel up to 15% and a focus on quality assurance and adherence to SOPs. A strong background in analytical instrumentation is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in chemistry, biochemistry, electronics, or closely related field.
  • At least 3 years analytical instrument experience or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of laboratory instrumentation and metrology standards.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, diagnose and repair HPLC/UPLC/GC/IC systems.
  • Calibrate and qualify HPLC/UPLC/GC/IC systems.
  • Recommend improvements to instrumentation and procedures.

Join our mission to continuously move science forward; to innovate and advance all aspects of our business to improve the health and safety of our communities and lives.SUMMARY:Responsible for executing and overseeing the maintenance, repair, and qualification testing of analytical instrumentation (HPLC, UPLC, GC and/or IC); provide feedback and guidance regarding instrumentation using professional and technical knowledge of related instrumentation and software.Compensation: $60,000.00 - 90,000.00 per yearThe salary range for this position reflects a variety of factors. Compensation will be determined based on the candidate’s geographic location, relevant experience, education, skills, and alignment with internal equity. Market conditions, budgetary considerations, and organizational compensation guidelines may also influence the final offer.NOTE: This role is in Columbus, OHESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Provides maintenance, diagnosis and repairs of HPLC, UPLC, GC and/or IC systems.Provides calibration and qualification of HPLC, UPLC, GC and/or IC systems.Recommends and implements improvements to HPLC, UPLC, GC and/or IC systems.Sources and orders supplies and parts to ensure inventory of consumables and repair parts for instruments, as needed.Interacts with customers/staff to provide analytical instrument support, explanation of troubleshooting results, and solutions based on troubleshooting.Participates in cross-functional project or program objective and other project requirements, receives direction and presents information to management.Provides standard research, feedback and decisions to resolve customer/management and employee questions and requirements; assists with receiving vendor feedback and coordinating resources and responses as required.Follows Standard Operating Procedures and methods to perform work.Ensures the accuracy of equipment, actions, procedures and operational databases, reports, and related details through audits, queries, and operational reviews; works with teams to resolve discrepancies; resolves discrepancies or escalates discrepancies to ensure quality assurance in equipment.Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.Overnight travel Up to 15% of the timeQUALIFICATIONS:Education and Experience:Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, electronics, or a closely related field and at least 3 years analytical instrument experience OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Required Knowledge and SkillsRequired Knowledge:Knowledge of laboratory and analytical instrumentation, HPLC, UPLC, GC and/or IC systems.Knowledge of metrology standards.Principles, practices, and techniques to diagnose, troubleshoot, and solve problems on HPLC, UPLC, GC and/or IC systems.Experience with Agilent/Waters LC and UPLC systems and/or Thermo IC instruments, preferredKnowledge in testing tools, instruments and calibration.Methods to resolve area problems, questions, and concerns.Comprehensive understanding of applicable area laws, codes, and regulations.Computer applications and systems related to the work.Methods to communicate with staff, coworkers, and customers to ensure safe, effective and appropriate operations.Correct business English, including spelling, grammar, and punctuation.Required Skills:Performing instrumentation diagnostics and troubleshooting.Administering instrument, mechanical, electrical, and software-based functions.Operating in both a team and individual contributor environmentInterpreting, applying and explaining applicable laws, codes, and regulations.Preparing functionals reports, correspondence, and other written materials.Using initiative and independent judgment within established department guidelines.Using tact, discretion, and prudence in working with those contacted in the course of the work.Contributing effectively to the accomplishment of team or work unit goals, objectives, and activities.Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with a variety of individuals contacted in the course of the work.Find Your Place at Pace - We need you - your curiosity, your talents, and your drive - to help us advance this important work.BenefitsWhen you join Pace, you commit to work that makes a positive impact on our communities and our world.
