Job summary

Syntegon Technology Services LLC in Raleigh, NC is seeking a Field Service Technician (Machine Vision Specialist) to create, optimize vision system recipes for pharmaceutical inspection and to support AI integrations. The role includes machine installs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and customer training.

Primary duties involve 75% travel domestically with occasional international assignments, and collaboration on vision and AI projects to ensure high-quality packaging and inspection

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of one year of application experience with vision systems (Halcon or Cognex preferred).
• Driver’s license and passport or ability to obtain one; ability to travel.

Responsibilities

• Travel domestically ~75% and some international travel to support FAT at Syntegon facilities abroad.
• Tune vision systems and teach new staff vision tuning standards.
• Collaborate on AI integration and vision applications with the COC.
• Install machines and support SAT with customers.
• Develop sample sets to create robust vision recipes and minimize false rejections.
• Train customer staff on operation and maintenance of inspection equipment.
• Provide on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshoot electrical/mechanical issues.
• Maintain regular customer communication for optimal function and satisfaction.
• Perform PC repairs/upgrades at customer sites and provide phone support.
• Generate service visit summaries and technical reports.

Job Description

The Field Service Technician (Machine Vision Specialist’s) primary responsibility is creating, completing or optimizing vision system recipes for the inspection of pharmaceutical injectable medicines. Secondary responsibility is working with COC on Artificial Intelligent technologies and custom vision applications. Continued duties of machine installs, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, modification, and particle sensor parameter setup would still be required. Support of other types of pharmaceutical packaging and inspection equipment within the inspection division may also be required.

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

• Bachelor’s of Science/Engineering Degree Or a combination of education and relevant job experience.
• Minimum of one year of application experience using Vision Systems, Halcon or Cognex preferred.
• Driver’s License
• Passport or ability to acquire a passport
• Ability to lift items up to 30 pounds, maneuver equipment for placement and to bend down and work within lower areas of machine
• Over-time and occasional weekend work/travel

Key Responsibilities

• Approximately 75% travel domestic and occasionally International to Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) with customers at Syntegon facilities in Japan, Germany or Denmark.
• Primary technician/engineer for performing vision tuning, and instructing new technician/engineers on tuning standards
• Work with COC on Artificial Intelligent integration, and work on vision integrations.
• Perform machine installation and support customers with Site Acceptance Testing (SAT)
• Guide customers to provide proper samples in order to develop machine vision recipes and achieve defect detection targets with minimal false rejection of accepts.
• Train customer staff on the operation and maintenance of inspection, packaging and assembly machine
• Perform customer on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of machine issue, both mechanical and electrical in nature
• Maintain regular communication with customers to ensure proper function and satisfaction of machines.
• Perform PC repairs and upgrades at customer sites.
• Perform troubleshooting phone support on machine operational issues.
• Generate service visit summaries and technical reports.

Additional Information

The position compensation range is between $40/hour to $50/hr. It is a non-exempt position and eligible for overtime. Compensation for roles at Syntegon varies depending on a wide array of non-discriminatory factors including but not limited to the specific office location, role, degree/credentials, relevant skill set, and level of relevant experience.
