Job summary

Canon U.S.A. is seeking a Field Service Engineer II to support on-site installations, repairs, and maintenance of photolithography semiconductor equipment, primarily in Hillsboro, Oregon. This role is full-time and customer-facing, requiring travel and hands-on problem solving in a cleanroom environment.

You will check equipment, train customers on operation, perform maintenance per factory procedures, document activity, and collaborate with teammates to minimize downtime and ensure reliability.

Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed.

Responsibilities

Job description

Are you seeking an opportunity to work with Semiconductor manufacturing equipment? As a Field Service Engineer II, you will provide customer support for onsite installations, repairs and maintenance of photolithography semiconductor equipment primarily in Hillsboro Oregon.

This is an exciting opportunity to be on the cutting edge of technology and join a dedicated team enabling new technology to improve processes in a pre-production environment.

This position requires full-time presence at your assigned office(s)/worksite(s)/territory.

Your Impact
  • Check and maintain equipment within factory standard specifications of system equipment.
  • Instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system equipment.
  • Perform repair maintenance or unit replacement according to factory procedures independently and with others.
  • Provide technical support to customers and respond to questions regarding operation procedures, equipment malfunctions, and other technical issues to minimize equipment down time and ensure positive customer relations.
  • Identify and report equipment error and status updates related to equipment performance issues to aid in troubleshooting or maintenance.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of activity and provide periodic reports.
  • Work with other technicians in the field to troubleshoot and service equipment.

  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required. AA OR BS degree in a related field is preferred, plus 1-2 years of related experience. (i.e. FSE or Technician position in a semiconductor equipment company or a technical position in the engineering field)
  • Knowledge of Linux operating system is helpful for operating and troubleshooting the system
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field (i.e. semiconductor manufacturing equipment)
  • Hands on mechanical skills required
  • Hands on experience with electronic testing tools required
  • Able to work on equipment alone and work with other engineers as a team player under challenging situations
  • Additional experience or knowledge in optical, lasers, software, robotics, precision mechanical skill or chemical are plus
  • Excellent trouble shooting skills, verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer support experience is a plus
  • Must be able to travel and work flexible schedules
  • Must feel comfortable working in a cleanroom environment most of the day (wearing full clean room suit, facemask, gloves, safety glasses)
  • May require International and domestic travel (valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary). Additionally, because this position requires driving for company business as an essential function of the job, must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies.
  • Requires ability to lift up to 30 pounds individually and for lifting over 30 pounds assistance may be available.
  • Substantial amount of standing, walking, typing, grasping, talking and hearing.
  • Occasionally kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs or ladder.
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity with or without corrective lenses for extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
  • The work environment may include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to chemicals, ultraviolet light and lasers, working in enclosed spaces, close quarters or narrow aisles or passageways.
  • The work environment may include working in highly time sensitive situations requiring quick resolution including equipment problems.

We are providing the anticipated rate for this role: $29.20 - $43.73 hourly
