Job summary

Canon U.S.A., Inc. in Boise, ID is seeking an entry-level Field Service Engineer I to support photolithography equipment and help customers optimize their semiconductor manufacturing processes.

This is a full-time, on-site role requiring your presence at assigned sites. You will be trained to service steppers and scanners, perform repairs, installations, and preventive maintenance, and document activities for management.

Qualifications

  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent; AA or BS preferred.
  • Willing to travel up to 30% with valid driver's license.
  • Basic Excel knowledge; PowerPoint preferred.
  • Able to lift up to 30 pounds and work in a cleanroom environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance of semiconductor equipment.
  • Install and calibrate semiconductor process equipment to specs.
  • Escalate complex repairs to senior technicians.
  • Maintain documentation of maintenance activity for management.
  • Participate in ongoing training and machine installations.

About the Role

Canon U.S.A., Inc. has an exciting opportunity in Boise, ID area to support our photolithography equipment customers and enable them to utilize cutting edge technology in their semiconductor manufacturing process.This is an entry level position where you will be trained to support Canon's photolithography equipment (steppers and scanners).


This position requires full-time presence at your assigned office(s)/worksite(s).



Your Impact


  • Perform repairs and preventive maintenance of semiconductor manufacturing equipment to ensure equipment performance and uptime meet customer specifications

  • Install and calibrate semiconductor process equipment to factory specifications

  • Escalate advanced repairs as needed, to senior level technicians

  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activity and provide periodic reports to site and regional management

  • Participate in ongoing technical training and machine installations to expand technical expertise.

Please note: This is a customer-facing role, and requires compliance with customer policies and protocols, which may include COVID-19 vaccination and other measures relating to COVID-19.



  • HS Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required. AA OR BS degree in a related field is preferred, plus less than one year of related experience. (i.e. FSE or Technician position in a semiconductor equipment company or a technical position in the engineering field)

  • May require up to 30% travel (valid driver's license and acceptable driving record necessary)

  • Requires basic Excel knowledge. Powerpoint is preferred

  • Position may require travel to other offices/customer sites within the US. Some overseas travel as needed

  • Requires ability to work flexible shifts, including compressed shifts as needed to meet customer requirements

  • Must be capable of working independently, prioritizing tasks effectively, and maintaining composure in high-pressure situations or when addressing customer demands

  • This position requires driving for company business as an essential function of the job and must remain in compliance with company safety guidelines and policies

  • Requires ability to lift up to 30 pounds individually and for lifting over 30 pounds assistance may be available

  • Substantial amount of standing, walking, typing, grasping, talking and hearing

  • Occasionally kneeling, crouching, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling and climbing stairs or ladder

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity with or without corrective lenses for extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes

  • Working primarily in a cleanroom environment (wearing full clean room suit, facemask, gloves, safety glasses)

  • The work environment may include a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to chemicals, ultraviolet light and lasers, working in enclosed spaces, close quarters or narrow aisles or passageways

  • The work environment may include working in highly time sensitive situations requiring quick resolution including equipment problems.



We are providing the anticipated salary range for this role: $27.88 - $41.75 hourly.
