Introduction
The Customer Support (CS) organization is responsible for installations, qualification, repair and maintenance of ASML systems at customer sites and for transferring know‑how to the customer. Local site CS branches perform these tasks within the region. The Field Service Engineer interacts daily with customers and often with senior engineers, line managers, internal stakeholders and external customers. Responsibilities include independent problem solving, executing defined action plans for regular and irregular maintenance, running diagnostics, and being reviewed on end results. This role is part of the local HMI Sustaining team.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and coordination duties, including pass‑downs, work orders, field service reports, system problem reports, and monthly reports. Prepare written technical reports independently.
- Maintain and service HMI MBI equipment at customer sites in clean rooms, working up to 12 hours in a clean room Gore‑Tex suit.
- Install new equipment, upgrade existing equipment, and support system relocations.
- Seek assistance when needed and use the escalation process (2L Tech Support, applications, 3L Global Support Center) while providing clear technical communication and problem statements.
- Advise customers on actions to correct system malfunctions.
- Interface daily with external customers, training them in equipment use and maintenance, answering questions, and providing technical assistance.
- Interface with internal customers, including junior and senior engineering teams and line managers.
- Coach junior engineers in their growth and development.
- Provide inputs for improvement proposals based on post‑mortems and drive solutions whenever possible. Contribute to work preparation by creating technical action plans with TS/Apps/GSC.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering field.
- 0–4 years of hands‑on experience (industry or academic) with mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, or semiconductor processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Excel VBA.
- Customer‑focused mindset from academic or professional settings.
- Basic programming skills in MATLAB, Python, SQL, or similar.

Other Information
- Legal/export license control is required.
- May need to lift or move up to 50 pounds unaided.
- Work environment is generally moderate in temperature and noise level.
- Work is conducted at customer sites with familiarization to customer rules and policies regarding site behavior and safety.
- More than 50% of the time is spent inside the clean room working with electromechanical equipment.
- Domestic and international travel may be required based on business needs and training.
- Compressed work weeks and potential night or weekend shifts are possible.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.
