Job summary

FLANDERS is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to diagnose, maintain, repair, install, and remove complex electromechanical motors at customer sites. The role requires independence to service medium to large accounts and travel as needed.

Rock Hill, SC location with a must-have motor shop experience. Primary duties include disassembly, testing, and documentation, with adherence to ISO standards and safety procedures.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associates degree/trade school in electrical or mechanical preferred.
• At least four years hands-on experience with mechanical or electrical equipment.
• AC and/or DC experience with motors and equipment.
• Strong interpersonal and customer-facing communication skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
• Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
• Ability to work in a team on complex customer jobs.
• Basic math including fractions and percentages.
• Ability to read and understand instructions.
• Willingness to follow training, safety procedures, and ISO standards.
• Initiative and sound judgment in routine duties within standards.
• Ability to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Experience with hand tools and drill press.
• Occasional confinement space work.
• Frequent travel including overnight.
• Vibration Institute certification (Category I or II) or pursuing certification.

Responsibilities

• Read work scopes to determine job status and required authorizations.
• Analyze and diagnose motors and equipment prior to repair or removal.
• Decide if field repair is possible or if shop repair is needed.
• Disassemble equipment, document parts and condition.
• Mark parts, photograph, and complete paperwork per ISO standards.
• Repair, install, or remove complex motors and equipment.
• Test electromechanical systems and log results.
• Use test devices and meters to verify output and performance.
• Read and interpret motor diagrams and parts drawings.
• Maintain thorough repair paperwork from receipt to Quality Control.
