Job summary

Xylem Water Solutions, a global leader in water technology, seeks a Diesel Field Service Technician in Washington state. You will troubleshoot, repair, and service pumping and support equipment in service centers or customer sites, with paid training for CDL upgrades.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of diesel experience or training.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
• Ability to obtain DOT Medical card.
• Commercial Driver License B preferred.
• Ability to diagnose basic mechanical and electrical issues.
• Safety practices and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine inspections and maintenance on Godwin fleet equipment.
• Troubleshoot diesel engines, electrical systems and pump problems.
• Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.
• Assist in setting up pumping systems on customer sites as needed.
• Help with start-up duties and resolve problems during start-up.
• Inspect equipment for damages and report to Service Manager.
• Test repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.
• Perform diagnostic checks using computer tools.
• Participate in weekly on-call rotation to assist customers after hours.

Xylem will provide paid training for CDL upgrades (if applicable).CORE RESPONSIBILITIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.Perform routine inspections, preventative maintenance and servicing as directed on Godwin fleet equipment between each rental.Troubleshoot diesel engine, electrical systems and pump problems.Rebuild diesel engines and pump ends.Assist customer and/or Xylem personnel with setting up pumping systems on customer job sites as needed. Assist in the performance of start-up duties and ensure any problems are resolved.Perform an initial inspection of Godwin fleet equipment for possible damages; diagnose damages; report damages to Service Manager.Test all repaired equipment for proper operation and quality.Perform preventative maintenance on Company vehicles and shop support equipment.Perform diagnostic checks using computer technology.Participate in weekly on-call rotation schedule to assist customers after hours.Perform related duties as assigned.Participation in Xylem Watermark volunteer activitiesMinimum Qualifications:Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities, License/Certification:1-2 years of diesel experience and/or training or combination of education, training and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.Valid driver’s license with good driving recordAbility to obtain DOT Medical cardCommercial Driver License B - PreferredDiagnosing basic mechanical problemsThorough understanding of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in equipment repair and maintenance.Basic understanding of pump station electrical controls and monitoring devicesGeneral DC electric and circuit testing skillsGeneral diesel engine component location and identificationSafety practices and proceduresBasic mechanical aptitudeAbility to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues-preferred.Ability to work independently with little or no supervision; self-motivated and self-directed.Ability to communicate effectively with customers, co-workers and managers both verbally and in writing.DAY IN THE LIFE:In this role, the working environment may be frequently outdoors, weather extremities, use of PPE, exposures to hazardous material, loud noise, etc. and the physical demands may include but not limited to {regularly sitting, standing, lifting up to 50 lbs. In addition, this role may require frequent travel to customer sites and on-call as a regular part of the job.Standard weekly job hours: 40 hours.The estimated salary range for this position is $34 to $40/hr.
