If you are an electro-mechanical technician looking to escape routine line maintenance and take true ownership of capital equipment lifecycles, this direct-hire role offers exceptional autonomy and visibility. The employer is an established, highly respected global manufacturer of premium automated systems in the Menomonee Falls area, known for innovation, quality craftsmanship, and an employee-first culture.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will sit at the vital intersection of internal quality control, engineering design, and customer engagement. Rather than dealing exclusively with frantic reactive repairs, you will own machines from start to finish—leading Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on the production floor, executing final field installations (SAT), and submitting Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to directly influence future machine designs.
What You Will Be Doing (Daily Responsibilities)
- Lead System Testing & SAT: Conduct rigorous Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) on the shop floor and lead Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) at customer facilities worldwide.
- Execute Electro-Mechanical Debug: Troubleshoot complex automated machinery, safely isolating faults across high-voltage control panels, electric motors, and low-voltage field sensors.
- Manage PLC & HMI Firmware: Perform software downloads, code uploads, and parameter adjustments on PLCs and HMIs during initial assembly and field commissioning.
- Deliver Technical Client Support: Provide expert remote phone/email support, log field service tickets, and conduct formal operator and maintenance training at customer sites.
- Drive Equipment Improvements: Partner directly with design engineering by submitting Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to eliminate recurring operational bottlenecks and refine machine builds.
- Manage Trade Show Logistics: Oversee technical setup, mechanical leveling, electrical tie-ins, and teardowns of live automated machinery at major trade show events.
What We Are Looking For (Requirements & Qualifications)
- 2+ Years Industrial Service Depth: Verifiable background servicing, commissioning, or troubleshooting multi-axis automated machinery or capital equipment.
- Schematic & Electrical Proficiency: Strong fluency reading complex electrical/mechanical prints, wiring industrial control cabinets, and tracing signal paths.
- Global Travel Readiness: Willingness and physical capability to travel 40 to 70 days annually, with a valid U.S. Passport (or immediate ability to acquire one).
- Personal Toolset & Physical Capability: Possession of a complete personal electro-mechanical hand toolset and physical capability to handle heavy machinery installations.
- Professional Customer Engagement: Clear, professional verbal and written communication skills when interfacing with plant managers and client engineering teams.
- Local Commute Access: Established residence within a comfortable daily driving distance of the Menomonee Falls, WI area.
Preferred Technical Assets (Bonus Skills)
- PLC/HMI Diagnostic Familiarity: Practical experience navigating Allen-Bradley or Siemens programming software to monitor online logic bits and troubleshoot faults.
- Pneumatics & Hydraulics Depth: Direct hands-on experience plumbing, adjusting, and troubleshooting industrial pneumatic and hydraulic motion systems.
- Export & Freight Rigging: Familiarity with heavy machinery rigging, container loading, and international shipping protocols.
