Job summary

Terracon is seeking a Field Scientist in the Glendale Heights area (also Lombard or Chicago Downtown) to conduct environmental site investigations, sampling and analysis of air, water, soil, and materials. The role involves developing risk-and-remediation strategies to ensure regulatory compliance and preparing permit applications and technical documents.

Responsibilities include field data collection, safety compliance, quality assurance, and drafting proposals for projects of varying size.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field; minimum 1 year related experience, or 5 years’ related experience in lieu of a degree.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable violation history may be required.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety rules, guidelines and standards for all projects.
• Understand and practice quality acumen.
• Support consistent quality standards on proposal and project delivery.
• Conduct site visits, field observations and field data collection.
• Assist in data collection and analysis from sampling, maps, drawings and reports.
• Conduct water, soil and other sampling.
• Direct field staff to sample, test and collect data and document site activities.
• Drafts written proposals for small projects and assist with larger proposals.
