Description

Under general supervision, the Field Sales Engineer – Monitoring Solutions serves as DMP’s technical authority on the central station environment — the receivers, automation platforms, video alarm services, and operator workflows that turn a signal into a dispatch. This role supports monitoring centers, dealers, systems integrators, and enterprise end-users in designing, evaluating, and deploying DMP solutions across the full signal path, from panel to receiver to operator screen to public safety. Intrusion detection, access control, and video surveillance are supporting disciplines in service of that path. The ideal candidate has hands‑on time in a central station or monitoring‑adjacent technical role and can speak credibly to an operations manager and an installing dealer in the same conversation. You’ll thrive in a fast‑paced, technical sales environment and serve as the critical bridge between DMP’s monitoring capabilities and the real‑world workflows of monitoring centers and their dealer bases across North America.

Fundamental Qualifications:
  • 3–5 years of experience in a pre‑sales, sales engineering, central station operations, or technical support role within the physical security or alarm monitoring industry.
  • Demonstrable hands‑on experience with at least one central station automation platform — Bold Group Manitou or Stages, MASterMind, or equivalent — including account setup, signal routing, action patterns, and operator dispatch workflow.
  • Working knowledge of video alarm and remote monitoring platforms such as Immix and CHeKT, including site and camera onboarding, event routing, alarm handling within the operator interface, and the integration path from panel or bridge into the monitoring center.
  • Practical understanding of the monitoring station signal path end to end: panel communication over network and cellular, receiver ingest, alarm formats (SIA, Contact ID, SIA DC-09), automation platform processing, operator action patterns, verification, and the call for service to an ECC or PSAP.
  • Familiarity with DMP monitoring infrastructure including the SCS-VR Virtual Receiver, SCS-1R receivers, Dealer Admin, and Virtual Keypad — or demonstrated ability to learn comparable receiver and provisioning platforms quickly.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of intrusion detection systems including control panels, keypads, communicators, and sensors.
  • Working knowledge of access control platforms and video surveillance systems (VMS, IP cameras, NVRs, edge analytics) as complementary disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, VLANs, port and firewall configuration, cellular and broadband communications, and cybersecurity best practices as they apply to security devices and monitoring center connectivity.
  • Experience working with and supporting security dealers and integrators, monitoring center operations teams, and enterprise end-users.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non‑technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with confidence presenting to both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Self‑motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel within North America (estimated 25–40%).
  • Accept and benefit from constructive performance feedback.
  • Any other equivalent combination of training and experience.
Additionally Valued Qualifications:
  • Direct experience working inside a UL‑listed central station or wholesale monitoring operation.
  • Familiarity with the ANSI/TMA AVS-01 alarm validation scoring standard and its effect on dispatch priority, operator procedure, and the value of verified video.
  • Experience with ASAP-to-PSAP automated dispatch and the data quality it demands of the automation platform.
  • Working knowledge of UL 827 central‑station alarm service and UL 1981 central‑station automation system requirements.
  • Exposure to video verification programs and the business case for reducing false dispatch, including analytics‑driven alarm sources such as camera‑side detection and video gateway platforms.
  • Industry certifications such as PSP, ASIS, BICSI, ESA/NTS, TMA operator or supervisor credentials, or manufacturer‑specific credentials.
  • Experience with DMP products or comparable intrusion panel manufacturers (Bosch, Honeywell, DSC, Napco).
  • Knowledge of enterprise security procurement processes or commercial/government verticals.
Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Monitoring Center Integration and Technical Support
  • Serve as the primary technical resource for monitoring center integrations, guiding central stations and their dealer bases through receiver configuration, account provisioning, signal routing, and automation platform setup.
  • Support onboarding, configuration, and troubleshooting across video alarm and remote monitoring platforms including Immix and CHeKT, and central station automation platforms including Bold Manitou, Stages, and MASterMind.
  • Trace and resolve signal path issues end to end — panel programming, communication path, receiver ingest, automation processing, and operator presentation — and document root cause for both the dealer and the monitoring center.
  • Advise monitoring centers on video verification workflow design, including alarm handling procedures, event prioritization, operator screen layout, and the evidence an operator needs to make a confident dispatch decision.
  • Support monitoring center customers through platform migrations, receiver replacements, and integration testing, coordinating cutover planning to protect signal continuity.
Pre‑Sales and System Design
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for the North American sales team and the dealer and integrator network.
  • Design and scope integrated security systems with attention to how each system reports, verifies, and dispatches — spanning intrusion detection panels, communication paths, video verification, and access control components.
  • Respond to technical inquiries, RFPs, and proof‑of‑concept requests in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations to monitoring centers, dealers, integrators, and enterprise end‑users.
  • Conduct site assessments and produce system design documentation including panel configurations, zone layouts, network architecture, receiver and account provisioning plans, and device schedules for intrusion and fire alarm systems.
Channel and Customer Enablement
  • Travel onsite to support monitoring centers, dealers, and integrators with training, programming guidance, integration testing, and system commissioning.
  • Lead sales and technical training sessions covering DMP intrusion panels, monitoring center integration, video verification, and access control for channel partners, monitoring center staff, and end‑user customers.
  • Manage pilot and proof‑of‑concept projects on behalf of the sales team — particularly video verification and monitoring platform integrations — ensuring successful outcomes and clear documentation.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to monitoring centers, dealers, and enterprise clients throughout the sales cycle and the transition to post‑sale support.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with product, engineering, and support teams to relay field and monitoring center feedback and influence the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to continuously improve the impact and scalability of the Sales Engineering function.
  • Contribute to the development of technical collateral including application notes, programming guides, integration and configuration documentation, and best practice resources.
  • Observe and adhere to DMP Data Classification policy.
  • Observes company policies. Continuously reviews processes to improve efficiency while maintaining conformance to requirements and fostering effective internal customer relationships.
  • May perform related duties or fill in for others in the department or other departments when requested. May train or instruct fellow workers regarding own duties .
