Job summary

Balfour Beatty US is seeking a Safety Coordinator in Charlotte to support field operations for our Carolinas Division. This role helps implement Balfour Beatty’s Zero Harm program by providing jobsite-level safety support, documentation, training assistance, and daily collaboration with project teams.

The Safety Coordinator serves as a key liaison between the project site and the Safety leadership team, helping ensure safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and proactive hazard mitigation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Safety & Environmental Health, Construction Management, or related field.
• 2–4 years of construction or industrial safety experience.
• OSHA 10 required; OSHA 30 strongly preferred.
• Ability to recognize hazards, communicate effectively, and maintain accurate documentation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and basic digital reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Support implementation of project safety plans and Zero Harm initiatives.
• Coordinate with project teams to maintain safe work practices and site compliance.
• Conduct routine jobsite walkthroughs, identify hazards, and track corrective actions.
• Maintain safety signage, bulletin boards, and first-aid/safety equipment.
• Assist with new-hire safety orientation and basic task-specific training.
• Maintain toolbox talk logs, meeting minutes, and training attendance.
• Assist with first aid response, incident documentation, and basic investigation steps.
• Participate in regulatory inspections and help ensure prompt correction of violations.
• Maintain organized safety files, inspection reports, and OSHA-related documentation.
• Prepare periodic safety summaries for project teams and Safety leadership.
