Job summary

HITT Contracting Inc. is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager to perform regular on-site safety inspections and support project teams in maintaining safe conditions and strong safety performance. The role reports to a Safety Manager and may require travel to project sites.

With a preferred four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business, candidates should have OSHA 30 and strong report-writing and documentation skills to help drive safety across our projects in Virginia and beyond.

Qualifications

• 2-5 years safety experience.
• A four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred.
• In lieu of a degree, additional work experience acceptable.
• Current First Aid AED/CPR certification a plus.
• OSHA 30 certificate required.
• CSP/ASP/CHST or other safety designation preferred.
• Ability to write professional reports and technical procedures.
• Proficient documentation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct on-site safety inspections using the web-based H&S application system.
• Evaluate project compliance with safety regulations.
• Assess subcontractor safety performance.
• Review project safety inspections with Site Operations.
• Distribute project safety inspections to team members and subcontractors.
• Track open safety issues to closure.
• Participate in accident/incident investigations with direction.
• Deliver safety toolbox meetings.
• Assist with on-site health safety training.
• Develop site-specific safety plans.
