Job summary

Fluence is hiring a Resource Technician 2 to perform on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshooting for battery storage systems. The role includes staying compliant with lockout/tagout, safety procedures, and coordinating with vendors.

Ideal candidates have HS diploma and 2–4 years in electrical/renewable energy, plus OSHA 10/NFPA 70E/CPR certifications or willingness to obtain them. Travel up to 3 weeks may be required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Ensure site safety following Fluence safety culture and stop-work authority.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on BESS equipment (SCADA, inverters, MV/HV, HVAC, substations).
• Follow lock out tag out procedures.
• Coordinate with 3rd party vendors for O&M services across projects.
• Maintain communication with supervisors, engineers, and managers via MS Teams and email.
• Adapt to extreme heat and cold environments on site.
• Meet timelines, manage scopes of work, and close work orders with quality.
• Maintain certifications (OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, CPR).
• Operate company vehicles with a valid license.
• Lift at least 50 lbs; perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Resource Technician 2 to join our team. In this role, you will be performing on-site preventive maintenance and troubleshooting activities for battery storage systems and performing onsite LOTO.

Key Responsibilities

• Be responsible for site safety by utilizing best practices, building on established Fluence safety culture, and utilizing Fluence safety management systems. Utilize stop‑work authority when warranted. Alert project team members immediately with issues and concerns.
• Perform scheduled preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on various BESS equipment and related assets (including but not limited to SCADA communications, Inverters, MV (Medium Voltage) & HV operations, HVAC, substations switching & inspections, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience with lock out tag out procedures.
• Support the RM in managing multiple 3rd party service vendors in the safe execution of O&M services across contracted BESS projects.
• Maintain open lines of communication to supervisors, engineers, and managers by effective use of MS Teams, emails, and other communication tools.
• Ability to adapt and work in extremely hot and cold environments.
• Held responsibility for meeting timelines and schedules, scopes of work, quality assurances and inspections, successful troubleshooting and repairs, and work orders completion.
• Either currently hold or able to immediately obtain certifications for OSHA 10, NFPA 70E, and CPR.
• Able to operate company vehicles both on site as well as on public roads and highways. Must have a current driver’s license with a good DMV record.
• Requires ability to physically bend, stoop, sit, stand, walk, reach, climb ladders/steps, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• All other job‑related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• HS Degree and 2‑4 years of experience working in the electrical or renewable energy industries within generation/operations/technical teams (solar/wind/BESS/gas/hydro/distribution).
• Demonstrated problem‑solving skills related to electrical troubleshooting, reading and interpreting schematic drawings, and having the ability to follow company QC and testing procedures.
• High level of attention to detail and focus on proper documentation.
• Familiarity with renewable energy systems and grid storage solutions.
• Knowledge of industry standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, IEEE).
• Customer‑focused mindset with strong interpersonal skills.
• Experience with service console or other work order software.
• Must be willing to travel frequently up to 3 weeks at a time.
• Manage time and tasks effectively with a sense of urgency, work overtime/weekends as needed.
