Job summary

Lusternational in Fresno, CA is seeking Resident Engineers of varying experience levels to support large heavy-civil infrastructure programs, including transit and transportation projects. Your focus will be day-to-day field management of construction contracts: directing inspection staff, handling submittals and RFIs, and ensuring safety, quality, and schedule commitments at the site.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, construction engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of construction management, resident engineering or related experience on heavy civil projects.
  • Experience administering construction contracts in the field including submittals, RFIs, and progress payments.
  • Experience serving as primary point of contact for contractor communications.
  • Experience training and directing CM/inspection staff on contract requirements.
  • Experience delivering CM services under owner procedures.
  • Knowledge of construction means/methods, QA, and field documentation standards.
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and schedules.
  • Proficiency with PMIS and construction documentation platforms (Kahua, Unifier, Procore, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

Responsibilities

  • Administer construction contracts in the field and enforce contract requirements.
  • Direct inspection staff and coordinate daily field coverage and documentation quality.
  • Serve as the point of contact for contractor correspondence and formal contract communications.
  • Train CM and inspection staff on contract requirements and document training.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and shop drawings and coordinate responses with design teams.
  • Evaluate contractor progress and recommend payments.
  • Analyze change orders and assess cost/schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate with contractors, designers, utilities and agency staff to resolve field conflicts.
  • Oversee QA activities, testing coordination, and nonconformance tracking.
  • Maintain complete project records and daily reports in the PMIS.
  • Lead progress meetings and provide field reporting to leadership.
  • Coordinate punch list, testing, commissioning, and closeout documentation.
