What You Will Be Doing

The Field Quality Engineer is responsible for providing quality support during design, procurement, manufacturing, and test activities on Stellar Energy projects. The major objective of the position is to assist in the management of day‑to‑day quality activities to ensure the Stellar Energy fabricated modules meet client quality requirements.

Essential Functions
  • Establish field services inspection program with appropriate procedures and forms or review and comment on contractors proposed procedure.
  • Support key client’s data extraction from ACC software to drive focused impactful interventions at sites and by XFN team members in the supplying factories and offices.
  • Perform inspections on activities and material. Coordinate inspections by other parties. Provide third party review of destructive/non-destructive test results and data.
  • Assist in the supplier evaluation and selection process.
  • Witness or provide for the witnessing testing of systems and equipment including tolerance checks or other inspections as specified in the quality control inspection procedures.
  • Review quality specifications for project and proposal.
  • Inspect modules and ship loose materials received at site for damage, provide detailed documentation and photos, communicate findings with site team, quality control manager and project management team.
  • Verify site contractor performing all fabrication, assembly, welding to approved client requirements, and applicable code and acceptance criteria.
  • Initiate non-conformance reports. Ensure all nonconforming material is quarantined or segregated and either reworked, repaired, accepted “as is,” or scrapped based on Nonconformance Report dispositions.
  • Project a positive and professional image of SEA to the client through structured communications and messaging during meetings/comm’s.
  • Prepare for ISO 9001 and other audits.
  • Coordinate internal auditing activities.
  • Perform Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) with team members.

What We’re Looking For
Must Have’s
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial QA/QC or similar projects working experience.
  • Experience with use of DMAIC, 8D, PDCA, A3’s and RCA Sampling plans, and statistical analysis.
  • Familiar with ISO 9001:2015 systems.
  • Familiarly with process control, Lean, SPC tools, Six Sigma, etc.
  • Basic computer skills (i.e., email, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook).
Nice to Have
  • QMS Auditor trained
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or technical field from an accredited University
  • Manufacturing / construction experience with general mechanical equipment including pumps, chillers, heat exchangers, etc.
  • OSHA 30
Travel

Anticipated travel for this position is more than 50% (more travel if needed).

What Hours You Will Work

This is a full-time position that may require working over 40 hours in the workweek. This may include evenings, overnight, weekdays, weekends, or holidays.

Work Conditions

This position operates mainly in a construction site and operating industrial plant environment. The employee must always comply with safety policies, practices, and procedures. Work is primarily done in the field which could be in a construction area requiring the use of earplugs, hardhat, steel-toe boots, and safety glasses. The work environment could be outdoors, hot, or cold, noisy, and/or dirty.

Physical Demands

This role requires the employee to be able to work effectively in a construction environment for system testing, including climbing ladders and moving around on platforms to maneuver in and around equipment. The technician must also occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be able to see and read printed materials, speak, and comprehend verbal communication, operate a computer, travel including flying as well as drive long distances, work in confined spaces, stand for prolonged periods of time and walk on uneven surfaces.

Work Authorization

Must be authorized to work in USA. Must be able to obtain a Passport.
