Job summary

Nicholson Construction seeks a civil/construction professional to provide technical, quality control and administrative support on jobsites. The role involves field QC, surveying, material management, and coordination of drawings and change orders.

Ideal candidates hold a relevant BS degree, 2–6 years of construction experience, and proficiency with MS Word/Excel/Outlook; CAD/SketchUp skills are a plus. Expect on-site work and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related degree.
• Experience in construction-related fields (2–6 years) including drawings, specs, surveying or geotechnical work.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook; familiarity with CAD/SketchUp is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures Nicholson safety regulations are followed and enforced.
• Performs field quality control tests and day-to-day preconstruction tasks.
• Prepares and manages quality control, production records and scheduling.
• Orders materials, writes purchase orders, and tracks inventory.
• Leads small work crews on technical tasks (water testing, load testing, etc.).
• Resolves drawing interpretation problems, interferences and errors.
• Performs field surveys and resolves geometry issues.
• Prepares drawings and sketches to support construction work.
• Assists in writing change orders and claim analysis.
• Ensures all installations follow Nicholson Quality Control Manual.
• Expands takeoffs/approaches from estimate to constructability level.
• CAD work/SketchUp; expands drawings to shop drawing level.
