Job summary

Farmers Insurance seeks a Field Adjuster in Louisiana to conduct virtual and on-site investigations, assess property damage, determine liability and negotiate settlements. You will use claims software, a company car and a laptop to write estimates in a paperless environment, while interacting with policyholders, claimants, agents and other professionals to ensure fair outcomes.

This role requires a HS diploma, willingness to travel for CAT deployments, and the ability to work in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Excellent customer service experience.
• Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Proficiency with smartphones and applications.
• Outgoing personality with strong interaction skills.
• Previous property damage claims experience preferred; training available.
• Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams.

Responsibilities

• Conduct both virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess property damage, determine liability, evaluate loss, and negotiate settlements.
• Use claims software, a company car, and a laptop to write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Report incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to state and industry agencies.
• Engage with policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, contractors, and investigators.
• Negotiate with policyholders to settle claims using strong customer service skills.
• Travel for CAT deployments as required, typically 2–3 deployments per year.

A Day in the Life of a Field Adjuster

• Conduct both virtual and on-site investigations by visiting policyholders’ residences to assess propertydamage, determine liability, evaluate the extent of loss, and negotiate fair settlements.
• Use claims handling software, a company car, and a laptop to determine claims-related damage and write estimates in a paperless environment.
• Reports incidents involving theft, fraud, or arson to appropriate state and industry agencies.
• Engages regularly with a variety of stakeholders, including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses,contractors, law enforcement, fraud and arson investigators, attorneys, medical professionals, and otherrelevant parties.
• Use strong customer service skills to negotiate with policyholders to settle the claim.
• Employees assigned to the Catastrophe team will be required to travel away from their residence for a specified period of time, usually consisting of 23 days.

Although this is not a CAT-specific role, hires will be expected to commit to 1–3 CAT deployments per year. Earn additional hourly pay and overtime during deployment assignments.

Requirements and Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent required.Excellent Customer service experience, preferably in a retail environmentConstruction or Insurance experience is highly desirable and preferred.Computer Literate: MS Word, Excel, Outlook.Proficiency with smartphones and applications.Eagerness to learn about insurance policies and property damage from the inside out to identify how coverage applies to a particular loss.Outgoing personality that would enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people including policyholders, claimants, agents, witnesses, and fraud investigators.Previous property damage claims experience preferred but we are willing to train the right candidate!... Achieve a minimum passing score on all claims training exams.
