Job summary

S&B USA Construction is seeking Summer 2027 interns for a Field/Project Operations Internship in Maryland. The role offers hands-on exposure to material ordering, coordination with subcontractors, and direct involvement in safety, scheduling, and technical disciplines on major civil infrastructure projects.

Interns will learn to read plans, perform quantity takeoffs, and use BlueBeam, AutoCAD, Site IQ/Drone tools while shadowing surveyors and material testing activities.

Qualifications

• Completion of one year in a Civil Engineering, General Engineering or Construction Management degree program.
• Excellent Computer and Communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in material orders with permanent and temporary suppliers.
• Assist in coordination between Fay and subcontractors.
• Observe and understand different types of work within Fay’s self-performing activities.
• Attend third party, internal Fay and external owner meetings.
• Attend safety and operations meetings.
• Fill out diary with descriptions.
• Observe monthly audits with safety personnel.
• Perform Eyes on Safety submissions.
• Attend look ahead meetings and help compile a 3-week look ahead schedule.
• Understand project milestones and phasing.
• Understand plans, cross sections and other technical documents for the project.
• Perform quantity takeoffs from plan sets for upcoming work and temporary materials.
• Utilize BlueBeam, AutoCAD, Site IQ/Drone programs to assist in providing work plan packages.
• Shadow surveyor and GPS/robotics setups understanding.
• Shadow material testing like concrete and embankment compaction.
