Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, system start-up and check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and Building Automation projects. You’ll work with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are effectively executed within contractual scope, budgeted cost, and time schedules. As a Field Project Manager you are a part of a dynamic team that allows you to grow as Convergint grows.

Travel requirement: over 50% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract. Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare the project installation plan and implement job procedures.
  • Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field. May perform managerial responsibilities including mentoring, coaching, planning, assigning, and directing work.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, including directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
  • Work closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; make recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identify ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Responsible for overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes, and company standards.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation. Serve as the key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such be accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to regularly work under pressure; consistently able to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet, the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems; ability to adapt procedures, processes, and tools to meet the more complex requirements of the job.
  • Strong field supervision skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Self-starter who works well without supervision.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., uses a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; advanced math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
  • Frequent visits to job sites required; minimal overnight travel; valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Requirements

Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.

Minimum Experience: 5-7 years relevant.

  • Preferred experience (not required): Experience in one or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
  • College degree in Electronics.
