Job summary

Convergint is seeking a full-time Field Project Manager to lead installation, programming, start-up and training on Fire, Security, and Building Automation projects.

You will oversee on-site execution, supervise crew members, coordinate subcontractors, and ensure delivery within scope, budget, and schedule. The role requires strong leadership, technical aptitude, and a commitment to customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 5-7 relevant years.
  • Strong field supervision skills and ability to troubleshoot problems.
  • Experience with building automation, fire alarm or electronic security systems is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees site management of projects for timely completion within budget and scope.
  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services building systems per contract.
  • Supervises installers and subcontractors on site.
  • Coordinates with Project Coordinator to plan installation and change in scope when needed.
  • Ensures compliance with codes and company standards.
  • Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction and communication.

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results driven and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our amazing culture. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. Works with management and administrative project team to ensure projects are effectively executed within contractual scope, budgeted cost, and time schedules.   • Oversees overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract. Works with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plan and implement job procedures.
  • Supervises Project Specialists, Installers and subcontractors in the field. May perform managerial responsibilities including but not limited to: mentoring, coaching and developing colleagues; planning, assigning and directing work.
  • Coordinates and supervises subcontractors including directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
  • Works closely with the Project Coordinator to assist in the overall coordination of specific projects; makes recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties and assist in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and to control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
  • Responsible for overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes, and company standards.
  • Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation. Colleague is key interface for the provision of technical support and training for the customer and as such is accountable for maximizing customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to regularly work under pressure; consistent ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems; may adapt procedures, processes, tools to meet the more complex requirements of the job.
  • Strong field supervision skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
  • Must be a self-starter and work well without supervision.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; advanced math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc).
  • Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Excellent understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
  • Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted.
  • Excellent customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools such as drill, screwdriver, wire stripper, hacksaw, crimper) and ability to read blueprints and drawings; solid math skills.

Requirements

Education: College degree, trade school or equivalent experience

Minimum Experience: 5-7 relevant years

Preferred Experience
  • Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic security
  • Ideal candidate will lead a crew of installers and have hands-on experience with access control and CCTV/video management systems
  • At least 1-2 access control certification (Lenel OnGuard, Software House C
  • CURE, or Genetec)
  • At least 1-2 CCTV/VMS certification (Milestone, Genetec, or Avigilon)
