Job summary

Convergint Technologies, LLC is seeking a Field Project Manager to lead the installation, programming, startup/checkout, and certification of Fire, Security, and Building Automation projects. You will coordinate with the project team to ensure delivery within contract scope, budget, and schedule, while providing customer training and support.

The role requires leadership of Project Specialists and Installers, oversight of subcontractors, and continuous efforts to improve customer satisfaction.

Field Project Manager – Fire, Security, and Building Automation

Convergint is looking for a full‑time, enthusiastic, results‑driven and forward‑thinking Field Project Manager to join our culture. In this role you will be responsible for the installation, programming, system start‑up/check‑out, certification, and related customer training on assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will work with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are effectively executed within contractual scope, budgeted cost, and time schedules.

What You’ll Do
  • Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
  • Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare the project installation plan and implement job procedures.
  • Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field; mentor, coach, and develop colleagues; plan, assign, and direct work.
  • Recruit and hire Project Specialists and Installers; directly responsible for the performance management of all direct reports.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, directing on‑site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
  • Assist in overall coordination of specific projects; recommend potential changes in scope and identify ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify potential project risks, communicate to appropriate parties, and assist in developing and implementing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
  • Ensure overall installation quality in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service a variety of systems and equipment—including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation—while providing technical support and training to the customer.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
What You’ll Need
  • Exceptional customer focus and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining awareness of customer needs.
  • Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
  • Self‑starter who can work well without supervision.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (use of hand and power tools, reading blueprints, advanced math skills for calculations such as area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
  • Frequent visits to job sites; minimal overnight travel; valid driver’s license.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Requirements

Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience. Minimum Experience: 5‑7 years relevant.

  • Relevant trade designation (e.g., Electrician)
  • Preferred experience: Associate degree in Electronics; experience in electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation industries.
