Job summary

Utilities One Group is seeking a local OSP Construction Coordinator in Blacksburg, VA to provide field support and oversee day-to-day fiber optic construction projects, both aerial and underground. You will verify facilities locations, coordinate with municipalities, and ensure work aligns with budgets and client specifications.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to lift 50 pounds, read maps and diagrams, and willingness to travel to sites.

Qualifications

• Valid, unrestricted driver's license required.
• Strong knowledge of aerial and underground design/construction.
• Ability to lift around 50 pounds, climb ladders, work in extreme weather.
• Ability to read maps, drawings, diagrams for fiber construction.
• Ability to travel to different job sites within the market.

Responsibilities

• Verify underground/aerial facilities locations per requirements and records.
• Evaluate proposed projects and ensure cost-effective routing/design.
• Ensure designs meet customer specs and stay within budget.
• Coordinate with State/local municipalities, other utilities, and departments.
• Coordinate all customer implementation activities including site walk-throughs and hub/node placements.
• Ensure work meets quality standards.

We are looking for a qualified, local OSP Construction Coordinator for this role, to provide field support and oversee day-to-day operations on aerial and underground fiber optic construction projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Verify that all existing underground and aerial facilities are correctly located per customer's requirements, city records, and field conditions;
• Perform field evaluation of proposed projects and ensure alternative routing delivers the most cost-effective design for construction;
• Ensure designs are in accordance with the customer's specifications and guidelines, and within the allocated budget;
• Proficiently coordinate with State and/or local municipalities as well as with other utilities or departments;
• Coordinate all customer implementation activities including site walk-throughs, hub and/or node placements, and subcontract labor;
• Ensure the produced work meets or exceeds quality standards.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• A valid, unrestricted Driver's License;
• Strong knowledge of aerial and underground design and construction requirements as they relate to the customer and any governmental guidelines;
• Ability to lift around 50 pounds, safely climb ladders, and work in extreme weather;
• Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for fiber construction;
• Ability to travel to different job sites within the assigned market.
