Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree preferred in Business, Engineering Technology, Construction, Industrial Technology, Communications, or related field.
  • Experience in retail, customer service, construction, electrical, manufacturing, or technical field preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; able to speak to individuals and groups.
  • Ability to learn technical products quickly and explain them practically.
  • Willingness to travel ~75% and work in field environments.

Responsibilities

  • Learn Copperweld products, applications, installation methods, specifications, and industry standards.
  • Conduct product training and hands-on demonstrations for retail associates, contractors, and customers.
  • Build and maintain relationships with retail partner teams at multiple levels.
  • Plan and host in-store training events in partnership with retail teams.
  • Follow up on quotes and opportunities to convert them into orders.
  • Communicate technical product information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Represent Copperweld at customer locations, events, and trade shows.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations on new products and programs.
  • Gather customer feedback and propose product improvements.
  • Develop and update training materials and presentations.

Field Product Specialist

Full Time SG&A Brentwood, TN, US

Join a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the wire and cable industry!

Copperweld is looking for an energetic, customer-focused Field Product Specialist to lead product education and technical training in the field. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with people, learning technical products, and presenting information in an engaging, easy-to-understand way. The Field Product Specialist will travel to retail locations and industry events to provide hands‑on product demonstrations and training, and will bring field insights back to the business to support product improvements. This position is regionally based and will report to the President of Building Wire.

WHAT we need from you.

  • Learn Copperweld products, applications, installation methods, specifications, and industry standards to become a trusted product resource in the field.
  • Conduct product training and hands‑on demonstrations for retail associates, contractors, and customers, including key retail partners.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail partner teams at every level, including store associates, store leadership, and sales teams, to become the go‑to Copperweld resource in each location.
  • Plan and host in‑store training events, such as Lunch & Learns, in partnership with retail associates to educate their contractor and electrician customers on Copperweld products.
  • Follow up on open quotes and sales opportunities to help convert them into orders.
  • Clearly communicate technical product information, proper installation, and key product advantages to audiences with varying levels of experience.
  • Represent Copperweld professionally at customer locations, training events, trade shows, and industry events.
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and cross‑functional teams to support new product introductions, field programs, and customer education initiatives.
  • Gather customer feedback and market observations, and provide recommendations to internal teams to support product improvements and new product development.
  • Develop and improve training materials and presentations, and maintain product information, samples, and demonstration equipment.
  • Manage a regular travel schedule across assigned markets and store locations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

WHAT you need to possess.

  • Bachelor's or Associate degree in Business, Engineering Technology, Construction, Industrial Technology, Communications, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience in retail, customer service, construction, electrical, manufacturing, or a technical field preferred.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to speak in front of individuals and groups.
  • Ability to learn technical products quickly and explain them in a practical, easy‑to‑understand way.
  • Comfortable delivering hands‑on demonstrations and engaging with customers, contractors, and retail associates in a field environment.
  • Strong relationship‑building and interpersonal skills with a customer‑focused mindset.
  • Ability to collaborate across Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Operations, and other internal teams.
  • Self‑motivated and organized, with the ability to manage a travel schedule independently and a working knowledge of Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
  • Residence near a major commercial airport is required due to the position’s frequent travel schedule.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 75%, including overnight travel.

Work Environment / Physical Demands

  • Work is performed in a combination of office, retail store, and trade show environments.
  • Frequent travel by vehicle and air travel, including overnight stays.
  • Physical Demands: standing and walking for extended periods, reaching, bending, and grasping during demonstrations. Must be able to lift and carry product samples and demonstration equipment up to 50 lbs.
