Job summary

American Electric Power is seeking a Project Outreach Specialist to drive field customer relations and communications for Transmission projects. The role interfaces with landowners, local officials, and external affairs teams to educate and gather routing information while supporting outreach strategies.

Responsibilities include field support to siting and project teams, coordinating resources, and traveling up to 20–30% with occasional overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in journalism, business, marketing, customer service, advertising, communications, public relations or related field.
• Minimum four years experience in Utilities, Corporate Communications, Customer Service, Marketing, Media Relations, Journalism, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Work directly with affected or potentially affected landowners to gain beneficial project routing information and resolve issues before and during the transmission line routing process.
• Support efforts to educate the public about proposed transmission projects with external affairs teams.
• Assist and support customer outreach strategies that improve two-way communications and line routing success.
• Provide field support to transmission siting, line engineering, right of way, and project management teams to ensure projects are executed on time.
• Coordinate deployment of resources accordingly.
