Job description

Join Friends of Kaleem Caire for Mayor as our Field Organizer

Our campaign's vision is to make Madison the best mid-size city in America to live, learn, work, and thrive, for everyone. We are building it on four pillars: Affordable, Healthy, Prosperous, and Together.

We are looking for an experienced organizer who wants to help build that future. You will turn our field plan into steady, organized action: voter contact, canvassing, volunteers, yard signs, and the systems that track it all.

  • Part-time campaign position, 10 to 15 hours per week
  • $20 per hour
  • Reports to the Campaign Manager
  • Madison, Wisconsin, on-site
  • Significant evening and weekend availability, especially during canvassing periods and the final weeks of the campaign
What you'll do
  • Build voter-contact lists in VAN, cut walk lists, and track canvass results against campaign goals
  • Plan and run canvasses by neighborhood and priority, and train volunteers and staff on canvassing
  • Recruit, onboard, schedule, and lead volunteers, and grow reliable volunteers into leaders.
  • Run the yard-sign operation: requests, inventory, delivery, installation, and retrieval
  • Organize canvass launches, neighborhood events, and visibility events, and build relationships with neighborhood leaders
  • Track field metrics, report to the Campaign Manager, and spot gaps in coverage before they grow
  • Help plan and run Election Day, including polling-place coverage and get-out-the-vote work
What we're looking for

Campaign experience is required. You should have:

  • Experience on a political campaign in field, organizing, or voter contact
  • Hands-on experience with VAN or a comparable voter database, including cutting turf and walk lists
  • Hands-on experience running peer-to-peer texting programs on a political campaign
  • Strong organization, comfort with data, and the ability to juggle priorities without losing details
  • Confidence working with volunteers and the public, and the ability to motivate people
  • Discretion with campaign data and the ability to work independently
What success looks like

You will know how many voters we need to reach, where they are, how many canvassers it takes, which neighborhoods are covered, and which volunteers are becoming regulars. You will see what is not working and fix it without waiting to be told.
