Job summary

Fayette Chamber of Commerce (GA) is seeking a full-time Field Operations technician to install, maintain, and repair the water distribution system in Fayette County. The role includes locating lines, reading meters, reading hydrants and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities include inspecting infrastructure, coordinating outages with contractors, and maintaining inventory. A Georgia driver’s license is required, and a state water operator certification must be obtained within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Must possess or obtain a valid Georgia driver's license.
• Forklift safety training required or obtainable.
• GDOT flagging certification required or obtainable.
• GSWCC Contractor Awareness Course – White Card required or obtainable.
• Must obtain a state-certified water distribution operator's certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair the water distribution system.
• Locate underground water lines and read meters using AMR/AMI equipment.
• Respond to after-hours emergencies on a rotating schedule.
• Inspect water infrastructure and maintain dam and reservoir components.
• Coordinate planned interruptions of water service for construction projects.
