Job summary

Peoples Gas Light & Coke Co., a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, seeks a General Supervisor, Operations in Chicago, IL to lead field operations for the gas distribution system and oversee safety surveys and regulatory compliance. The role requires effective communication with customers and industry professionals and leadership of a wage earner team.

The position emphasizes scheduling, mentoring staff, and ensuring adherence to company policies, codes, and safety standards in a dynamic field

Qualifications

High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
3+ years Standard computer applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
3+ years Specialty computer applications (Advantex, C‑First, DMIS, etc.)
3+ years Formal or informal leadership
5+ years Gas Operations, Distribution, or Construction experience.
5+ years Working with and understanding related codes (Title 49 CFR 192, IL Admin Rules, etc.)

Responsibilities

Supervise wage earner employees in field operations; schedule, assign and dispatch work.
Conduct tailgates and safety meetings; enforce company rules and field procedures.
Design, install and maintain gas distribution system appurtenances; supervise related work.
Train employees on proper methods, safety, and equipment care.
Coordinate emergency work with other departments; on‑call availability.
Consult with customers, builders and contractors on service problems and piping layouts.
Inspect finished work for conformance and resolve conflicts with customers.
Other duties as assigned.
