Job summary

Marathon Petroleum’s MPL Mechanical Technician position is based at the Texas City Docks and NGL Complex. This role performs maintenance and reliability activities around LPG and products facilities, troubleshoots problems, and provides field support to multiple processes and departments.

Travel, call-outs and overtime are required as needed. A high school diploma is required; an associate degree is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• An Associate's degree in a technical field is preferred but not required.
• A valid driver's license is required.
• Proficiency in basic computer skills is expected.
• Previous pipeline experience with emphasis on mechanical aptitude is highly preferred.
• Must be able to pass drug and background check.

Responsibilities

• Vibrating monitoring and analysis
• Inspect, install, and maintain major/minor relief valves
• Complex pump alignment
• Lubricant changes
• Install/repair stainless steel tubing
• DOT mainline inspections
• Flange bolting and assembly
• Valve actuator maintenance
• Maintaining bi-directional provers
• Coordinate and communicate maintenance activities
• Responding to breakdowns and field callouts as part of rotational on-call support
• Generate computerized breakdown work orders/requests for maintenance tasks
• Perform work in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements
