Job summary

Pike Corporation is seeking a Field Mechanic to work at multiple locations with potential travel to other states as required by customer demands. The role involves managing large quantities of equipment, performing repairs and routine maintenance, and ensuring safety across diverse job sites.

The candidate should have 1–5 years’ experience, be capable of rigorous physical labor, possess mechanics schooling or experience, and hold or obtain a CDL within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage equipment across regions, cities and states.
• Perform repairs and maintenance on a range of equipment from cranes to chainsaws.
• Work safely on job sites in various weather conditions.
• Troubleshoot equipment repair, maintenance and deployment locally.
• Maintain company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Learn/perform diagnostics and use computer-based inventory/work orders.

Position Summary:

The Field Mechanic position works at various locations. The position may also be required to travel to another state depending on customer demands.

Essential Functions:

• Responsible for 70 - 100 pieces of equipment per region.
• Manage Deployment of Equipment across regions, cities and states.
• Knowledge of equipment mechanics ranging from as large as a crane to as small as a chain saw.
• Work safely while performing repairs or maintenance on a job site in various weather conditions.
• Troubleshooting in various localities regarding equipment repair, maintenance and deployment.
• Frequently work around energized high voltage systems requiring skill and care to protect the lives of themselves and others while performing job.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment and tools in good working order.
• Does all other related work as required to complete the job.

Other Requirements:

• Requires 1-5 years experience.
• Able to perform rigorous physical labor.
• Experience or schooling in mechanics.
• Must have or be able to obtain CDL license within the 60 days of employment.
• Must have own general tools.
• Must be able to learn or perform work in the following disciplines:
  o Hydraulics
  o Diesel/gas engine - automatic
  o Chassis and suspension
  o Welding/metal fabrication
  o Small tool repair
• Must know or be able to learn how to use computers for:
  o Diagnostics
  o Equipment Inventory management
  o Work Orders
• Certifications or Experiences in any of the following a plus:
  o ASE certification
  o Ford or international certifications
  o Altec/Telelect
  o Hydraulic maintenance
  o Utility or construction jobs
• Understands equipment set up and grounding.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice, when required.
• Able to work for extended periods in various locations, when required.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
• Must be able to work outside, frequently in inclement weather.
• Willing to work over-time when requested.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to a variety of extreme conditions at construction job sites. The noise level in the work environment and job sites can be loud. This position is performed in outside weather conditions.
