Job summary

United Rentals, the world’s largest equipment rental provider, seeks a Field Diesel Mechanic – CES to perform maintenance and repair on customer-owned equipment with minimal supervision, in a safe, professional manner.

You will travel to customer sites to service equipment, maintain a clean service vehicle, and demonstrate a wide range of equipment. This role offers growth into higher Service Technician and leadership roles within the Service Department.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and valid driver's license.
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools.
• Own tools and strong mechanical knowledge of engines.

Responsibilities

• Safely maintain and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on customer equipment.
• Maintain paperwork/online work orders with complete and timely documentation.
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment to customers.
• Travel to customer sites; keep service vehicle clean and professional.
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment and parts.

As a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech III - Field Service - CES), you’ll use your skills to perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer owned equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. Like every member of our team, we will rely on you to provide exceptional customer service to our customers.

What you’ll do:

• Safe maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of customer equipment and tools while using a high degree of independent judgment
• Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
• Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment for customers
• Travel to customer job sites for repair/maintenance of customer owned equipment; must maintain service vehicle in a clean and professional manner
• Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
• Other duties assigned as needed

Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record
• 3-5 years of experience repairing/maintaining equipment and tools
• Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools
• Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background knowledge of various engines
• Must own tools applicable to position
• Superior customer service, teamwork and verbal/written communication skills
• Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.

Note: This position is governed by a Collective Bargaining Agreement. Rate of pay and benefits will be determined by the agreement in place.

This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals’ policies and procedures.
