Job summary

United Companies, a CRH Company, is seeking a Field Mechanic to service and repair heavy equipment at sites in Colorado. You will troubleshoot, replace parts, and perform preventative maintenance on trucks and equipment.

Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or GED and 2–5 years of related experience, plus a CDL Class A with air brakes. Travel up to 25% is required. The position offers $35-$40 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoots problems and makes durable repairs.
• Maintains and repairs heavy equipment and trucks.
• Performs preventative maintenance including oil changes and fluid checks.
• Repairs electrical and hydraulic systems and diesel/gas engines.
• Keeps records, orders parts, and uses CMMS/Hexagon/Workforce.
• Welds broken parts and maintains a clean work area.
• Travel up to 25% as needed.

Position Overview

Field Mechanic

Wage Range

$35.00-$40.00 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties And Functions)

• Troubleshoots problems, making economical and durable repairs.
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts using hoists and hand tools.
• Maintains and repairs heavy equipment, trucks, shop, and non-mobile equipment on a company-wide basis.
• Services vehicles/equipment to include oil changes, greasing, adding fluids, changing filters and maintaining preventative maintenance schedules.
• Troubleshoots and repairs electrical and hydraulic systems, diesel and gasoline engines, transmissions, drive trains, etc.
• Orders parts and supplies. Maintains purchase orders and invoices. Operates computer for job functions.
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments.
• Repairs or replaces defective parts.
• Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• Welds broken parts and structural members.
• Maintains a clean and organized work area.
• Maintains organized paperwork such has DVIR sign offs and ADOT inspections.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Education/Experience

• High School diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
• Two to five years of related experience required.

Work Requirements

• Must be 18 years in age or older.
• Must pass pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check.
• Report to the job site dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
• Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
• Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.
• Must be on time for work.
• Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required (up to 25% of the time).

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

• Language Skills Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Mathematical Skills Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Reasoning Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, but uninvolved written or oral instructions Ability to work well with others in a group or one on one setting.
• Computer Skills To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to type and use keyboards accurately and have knowledge of Database software.
• Communicate with outside vendors and operations, order parts, document repairs in CMMS/ Hexagon/ Workforce.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Commercial Driver's License Class A, Air brakes.
