Job summary

MP Systems is seeking a Heavy Duty Truck/Equipment technician to perform maintenance and repairs at diverse job sites and remote locations across Central MN, including the Duluth, Mora, and Virginia areas. You will diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical and hydraulic components, and conduct DOT inspections to keep fleet equipment safe and reliable.

Requirements: CDL and medical card, high school diploma or GED; associate degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Heavy Equipment

Qualifications

  • High school education or GED required.
  • Associate’s degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Heavy Equipment repair or five years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Pre-plan and identify methods to eliminate hazards daily.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, brake systems, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform DOT inspections and ensure proper documentation.
  • Install and troubleshoot telematics in fleet equipment.

This position will perform maintenance and repairs at various job sites and remote locations.

Job sites will be in the Central MN area including the Duluth, Mora, and Virginia areas.

Responsible for the full range of maintenance and repair needed for heavy-duty trucks, large constructionequipmentand tractor trailers. Keep all vehicles and equipment in good running condition, including gas, diesel andelectricalengines. Inspect company fleet todeterminenecessary corrective action; examine,diagnoseand repair brake systems, engines, electrical components, steering systems,transmissionsand tires. Conduct businessin accordance withMP Systems, Inc. mission and vision statements.

Salary Range - $33.00/hr - $40.00/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Pre-plan andidentifythe methods toeliminatehazards daily by work task.
  • Execute skill inobservinghabitsand hazards ofothers, andbringing it to their attention.
  • Uphold safety as the most important goal of our company. Support goal of achieving zeroinjuries.
  • Obtain safety training as expected by all company personnel.
  • Diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, PTOs, brake systems, hydraulic systems, electrical systems and interphases, cranes, digger derricks, aerial devices,systemsand components. Perform DOT inspections, perform monthly, annualinspectionsand dielectric testing on equipment. Complete repairs noted on all inspections,facilitateall the necessary documentation andpaperworkfor all repairs and inspections. Install and trouble shoot telematics in fleet equipment.
  • Performs tune ups, brake jobs, functional adjustments to aerial equipment, digger derricks, cranes and other fleet equipment, preventative maintenance, metal fabrication and welding, respond to road service calls and routinely scheduled visits to job sites to perform repairs, preventativemaintenanceand inspections.
  • Assist Fleet Manager withmaintainingappropriate serviceand repair records.Assist Fleet Manager withresearchingandpurchasingequipmentpartsand supplies.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Valid CDL driver’s licenseand medical card
  • High school education or GED isrequired
  • Associate’s degree in Heavy Duty Truck/Heavy Equipment repair or five years of experienceperformingrepairsand maintenance of heavy equipment
  • Minnesota DOT inspector or able to obtain in 1 year
  • Must supply a basic set of tools for work in the shop
  • Qualified to perform annual inspections

  • Positive safety attitude and personal integrity – both are non-negotiable
  • Knowledge of the standard practices, materials, tools, and equipment used in the repair and maintenance of motor vehicles and engines.
  • Knowledge of safety issues in the use of tools, equipment, and supplies used in repair of motorized vehicles and equipment.
  • Complete service & repair tasks from basic to complex, independently with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of body and frame construction.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of hand tools.
  • Skill in the use of gas and electric welding equipment,mechanized tools, jacks, and hoists.
  • Skill in the use of a variety of diagnostic testing and tuning equipment.
  • Skill & knowledge baseto effectively service and repair machinery and implement new service and repair techniques.
  • Ability to diagnose mechanical,electricaland hydraulic malfunctions.
  • Ability to read manuals and schematics.
  • Ability to rebuild engines and major driveline components.
  • Ability to communicate with others about repair work needed.
  • Ability todeterminework priorities
  • Ability to order andprocureparts & supplies
  • Acquirean effective knowledge of service procedures for all fleet equipment
