Pape’ Machinery, Inc. – Agriculture & Turf Division in Chico, CA is seeking a Field Mechanic to service agriculture equipment at customer locations. You will diagnose malfunctions, perform repairs, and ensure equipment runs at peak form while representing a trusted service team.

The role requires 3+ years of heavy equipment diagnosis/repair, strong communication, and the need to provide your own tools. Compensation is hourly with benefits and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• 3+ years diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, preferably agriculture equipment.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Self-motivation with ability to work under limited supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Driver’s license with good driving record; CDL preferred.
• Must provide own tools.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair agriculture equipment at customer locations in a timely, accurate manner.
• Repair, replace, or rebuild engines, transmissions, hydraulics, steering, and related components.
• Welding and fabrication work as required in the field.
• Travel in a Pape’ service vehicle to perform service work and interface with customers.

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

As a Field Mechanic, you will work on agriculture equipment at customer locations ensuring that equipment repairs are done accurately, timely, and the customer’s equipment is running in peak form. Each day, you will analyze and diagnose agriculture equipment malfunctions or failures in the field, then repair, replace or rebuild engines, transmissions, carburetors, final drives, steering, clutches, cross shafts, hydraulic components including pump motors and valves, electrical and air systems. Welding and fabrication work will also be required at times. Picture yourself traveling the area in a fully loaded Pape’ service vehicle, performing top‑notch work on equipment, interacting with customers, and knowing that they can count on you to get the job done right.

WHAT YOU NEED:

• 3 or more years of experience diagnosing and repairing heavy equipment, preferably agriculture equipment.
• Basic computer knowledge.
• Self‑motivation and ability to work under little or no supervision.
• Excellent communication and customer relations skills.
• Driver’s license with a good driving record. CDL preferred.
• Must provide own tools.

Compensation: $38–45/hr (Depending on Experience)
