Job summary

CEC Companies is seeking Material Handlers to support movement of materials and tools at construction sites. You will help with loading/unloading, inventory accuracy, and site logistics, maintaining safety and 5S standards.

Ideal candidates have basic math and English skills, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to work overtime as needed. A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are required.

Responsibilities

• Assists in cycle counting to ensure inventory accuracy.
• Drive company vehicles as qualified.
• Prepare order requests for job sites, assist with loading/unloading trucks.
• Sort cargo during loading/unloading and label containers.
• Stock/pick, log, and maintain tools.
• Process paperwork (packing slips, tool transfers).
• Track maintenance/repair of site vehicles and report needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and 5S principles in the yard.
• Take direction from Site Logistics leadership to perform tasks with impact.
• Hold a valid forklift certification (CEC Training Available).
• Communicate professionally with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Perform other duties to ensure efficient operations.

Position Summary

Material Handlers are responsible for supporting the effective and efficient movement of all material and tools on and around CEC facilities and construction job sites. The variety of our work requires our team to be industry-leading problem solvers with solid planning and troubleshooting skills. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in conducting Cycle Counting to ensure inventory accuracy
• Drive company vehicles as qualified and required.
• Prepare order requests for the job sites, assist with loading and unloading trucks.
• Sort cargo during loading or unloading process and mark containers with identifying information.
• Stock/pick, log, clean, maintain tools as necessary.
• Processes various paperwork (i.e., packing slips, tool transfers.)
• Tracks maintenance, and repair of site vehicles. Inform the site Supervisor of any repair and/or maintenance needs.
• Maintain cleanliness and 5s principles within the site laydown yard.
• Able to take direction from Site Logistics leadership to perform tasks with operational impact.
• Have and maintain a valid Forklift certification. (CEC Training Available)
• Communicate professionally with management, coworkers, and customers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective processes, completion of projects and smooth operation of department.

Education and Experience

• Experience in construction job sites is a plus.

• Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.

• Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
• Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
• Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
• Possess good vision, normal or corrected. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision to discern color coded wires, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
• Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
• Must be able to work 8 hours a day, 40 hours per week, and overtime as required and night shifts, as needed. This position requires flexible work hours. In order to get a project completed on time, this position is often required to work overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
• Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
