Job description

Grant Thornton is seeking a Field Marketing Associate Director to join the team. Approved office locations can be found below.

Job Description:

As a Field Marketing Associate Director, you serve as a player-coach, leading activation across multiple markets while coaching and developing a high-performing team of Field Marketers. You translate enterprise priorities, growth opportunities, and market insights into coordinated in-market programs that drive engagement, demand, and measurable business impact. In addition to leading an assigned area, you take enterprise-level ownership of one or more Field Marketing priorities or other strategic initiatives.

You are accountable for the performance and development of your direct reports and for contributing to the performance, capability, and consistency of the broader Field Marketing team. You are also accountable for the quality and impact of your area portfolio and the success of the function-wide priorities you lead. This includes setting activation strategy, prioritizing investments and resources, establishing clear ownership, and ensuring consistent execution through disciplined intake, shared planning routines, repeatable activation formats, and structured post-activation evaluation. Partnering closely with sales, GTM leaders, and marketing teams, you ensure field activation is connected to campaigns, content, brand standards, and performance measurement, raising the bar for impact and consistency over time.

Your Day-to-Day May Include:
Area and Portfolio Leadership
  • Serve as the senior Field Marketing advisor to area leaders, identifying growth opportunities and recommending priorities based on business performance, engagement signals, market intelligence, and enterprise direction.

  • Own activation strategy, portfolio prioritization, and resource allocation across assigned areas, making clear recommendations on where Field Marketing should invest, scale, optimize, defer, or stop activity based on opportunity, impact, capacity, and enterprise priorities.

  • Translate priorities into coordinated area activation plans and calendars aligned to enterprise direction, ensuring work enters through the single intake model with clear ownership

  • Serve as the Field Marketing point of accountability for the assigned area and strategic priorities, addressing questions related to ownership, prioritization, capacity, cross-functional engagement, execution quality, and activation standards.

Enterprise and Cross-Functional Ownership
  • Lead one or more Field Marketing priorities that extend across geographic boundaries, establishing the strategy, ways of working, roles, tools, and standards needed for the broader team to operate consistently and effectively.

  • Serve as the Field Marketing lead for assigned cross-functional relationships or portfolios ensuring Field requirements and perspectives are represented in planning and decision-making.

  • Lead Field Marketing engagement with campaign, Industry, Service Line, Alliances, content, and channel teams to translate enterprise priorities into locally relevant activation programs, while providing market insight that informs future strategy, audiences, content, and investment decisions.

  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across marketing functions to ensure field activations remain connected to campaigns, content, brand standards, and performance measurement

Team Leadership and Capability Building
  • Lead, coach, and develop Field Marketing team members, establishing clear expectations for strategic ownership, stakeholder management, activation readiness, execution quality, measurement, and continuous improvement.

  • Build capability across the broader Field team by sharing expertise, developing practical guidance and tools, facilitating knowledge transfer, and enabling team members to take greater ownership of programs and portfolios.

  • Establish scalable ways of working across the Field Marketing team by turning lessons, successful programs, and specialized expertise into practical guidance, tools, templates, and repeatable activation models.

  • Establish practical and responsible AI-enabled ways of working across the team to improve planning, targeting, communications, insight development, workflow efficiency, and reporting, while maintaining appropriate judgment and quality review.

  • Work with onshore and offshore team members to elevate execution quality and standards across markets

Activation Quality and Business Impact
  • Provide strategic oversight and selective hands-on leadership for priority events, sponsorships, conferences, executive programs, and experiential activations, ensuring clear ownership, appropriate resourcing, repeatable formats, and consistent experience standards across markets.

  • Travel regularly across markets as needed to provide on-site support and leadership for priority activations, complex programs, and high-impact events.

  • Drive post-activation evaluation discipline across markets, including post-event reviews, CRM capture, follow-up effectiveness, and clear recommendations to scale, optimize, or stop investments based on outcomes

  • Ensure best practices for event follow-up, lead routing, and engagement progression are consistently applied across markets

  • Other duties as assigned

You Have the Following Technical Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications or related field required; MBA preferred

  • 10+ years of progressive B2B marketing experience, preferably within professional services or related industry

  • Advanced proficiency with CRM systems and marketing automation platforms

  • Strong analytical capabilities with proven track record of using data to drive marketing decisions

  • Exceptional project management skills with ability to oversee multiple complex initiatives simultaneously

  • Outstanding communication and leadership skills with ability to influence at all organizational levels

  • Demonstrated ability to balance tactical execution with strategic thinking and team development

  • Experience working collaboratively across functions and with geographically dispersed teams

  • Agility and adaptability in responding to changing business priorities and market conditions

  • Ability to move between enterprise strategy, area planning, team leadership, and on-site activation while maintaining clear ownership and follow-through.
