Job description

Come join the team at Ulland Brothers, a leader in the construction industry in Minnesota. Ulland Brothers, Inc., is a Civil/Highway-Heavy, aggregate and site development contractor with offices in Carlton, Virginia and Albert Lea, MN. Ulland Brothers has operated in the construction industry for over 100 years.

Primary Function:

Provide directions for the day-to-day operations of all maintenance personnel, transportation, and repair of equipment. The Field Maintenance Manager will supervise all shop and field mechanical operations and oversee parts/supplies inventories and outside service vendor relationships. This position will be based out of our Northern Division and will report to the General Manager.

Typical Duties:

  • Manage and direct effective maintenance and repair programs.
  • Control expenses of the service department while maintaining productive services.
  • Monitor all corporate equipment files including inventory, repair, and maintenance, etc.
  • Manage field equipment inspections reports and prioritize repair/maintenance requests.
  • Oversee equipment training and safe operating procedures for all equipment.
  • Proactively work with field personnel to ensure all equipment is used appropriately, safely, and efficiently.
  • Assist management team with final equipment budgets and potential equipment purchases.
  • Perform additional assignments as requested including ongoing in person or online training.

Qualifications:

  • Technical school degree, Master Heavy Equipment Mechanic, or equivalent
  • 5+ years of heavy construction equipment and truck maintenance and repair experience
  • Extensive experience with highway construction and aggregate production equipment
  • Proficient in OSHA, MSHA, and DOT requirements for equipment operations, repair, and maintenance.
  • Positive, Team-Oriented Attitude
  • Highly developed communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player
  • Attention to details and time management skills
  • Ability to use email, word processing and spreadsheets

Work Environment Considerations:

  • Work in various environments and working conditions depending on assignment.
  • Working at heights & some heavy lifting.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Applicants must have a clean driving record. CDL Preferred.
