Job summary

Maguire Iron, Inc. seeks a Shop Laborer Summer Intern to support fabrication shop tasks and gain exposure to the welding industry. The role involves assisting coworkers with daily duties, interpreting prints, and helping prepare production documentation.

Responsibilities include welding (SMAW and flux-core), field work, and leading small teams to meet deadlines while maintaining safety. Travel and customer interaction are expected.

Qualifications

• Completion of a formal apprenticeship, technical or welding degree preferred.
• 3 years of welding experience preferred or a combination of schooling and experience.
• Must pass a company weld test (SMAW required).

Responsibilities

• Perform welding, fabrication, and repair tasks in the shop and field.
• Interpret specifications, drawings, and Maguire prints; communicate discrepancies.
• Lead field team assistants to complete scope on time.
• Present and gather customer sign-off on documentation.
• Lead weekly safety toolbox meetings and maintain safe job sites.
• Complete daily production paperwork and review crew timecards.
• Travel frequently to multi-state assignments; maintain equipment.
