Job summary

Federal Express Corporation is seeking a dispatch professional responsible for linhaul equipment dispatch according to the plan, ensuring on-time pickup and delivery for assigned areas.

You will enter events in the TMS, verify trailer locations, support safety initiatives, and generate management reports while coordinating with teams to maximize capacity and maintain service integrity.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Verbal and written communication skills essential for coordination with diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of transportation regulations, including DOT requirements, used in Linehaul operations.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and web-based applications; experience with TMS is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan.
• Ensures Linehaul dispatch and arrival rules follow defined procedures.
• Dispatches cargo to maximize trailer volume while meeting delivery obligations.
• Enters dispatch events into the TMS to ensure on-time delivery and pickup of trailers.
• Verifies equipment location in the dispatch system via yard inventories.
• Verifies load/unload status of trailers via yard checks and reports missing equipment.
• Supports safety initiatives to maintain a safety-conscious culture.
• Investigates delays, accidents, and equipment failures and implements contingency plans for on-time load delivery.
• Reviews DOT roadside violations and reports to management.
• Compiles data and prepares regular and adhoc reports for management review.
• Assists with BCSA audits by retrieving data and files for review.
• Reviews trailer load condition reports (TLCRs) to ensure proper completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for the dispatch of transportation equipment in accordance with the Linehaul plan. Adheres to Linehaul schedules and supports efforts to maximize capacity, minimize partial trailer loads and ensure service integrity for assigned areas.

Essential Functions

• In accordance with the Linehaul plan, executes the dispatch of transportation equipment.
• Ensures Linehaul dispatch and arrival rules are followed according to defined Company procedures.
• Dispatches cargo shipments to maximize the trailer volume while meeting package delivery obligations.
• Enters dispatch events into an online system (TMS) to ensure on time delivery and pick up of trailers.
• Verifies the location of equipment in the dispatch system by completing yard inventories.
• Verifies the load/unload status of trailers by completing yard checks. Timely reports missing equipment.
• Follows and communicates safety initiatives to ensure a safety-conscious culture.
• Investigates and reports schedule delays, accidents and equipment failures and implements contingency plans which ensure on-time load delivery in the event of an en-route breakdown or accident.
• Reviews and communicates Department of Transportation (DOT) roadside violations to management.
• Compiles data and provides various regular and adhoc reports to management for review and determination.
• Assists management with Business Control Self Assessment (BCSA) audit activity by retrieving data and/or files for review.
• Reviews trailer load condition reports (TLCR’s) to ensure proper completion.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education

• High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Minimum Experience

• Dispatch experience preferred.

• Time management, organizational and multi-tasking skills necessary to work in a fast-paced team environment, handling various tasks and changing priorities, while maintaining a high attention to detail and accuracy to achieve daily assignments and goals
• Verbal and written communication skills necessary to communicate with various audiences. Ability to work productively in team environment and effectively implement operational processes
• Knowledge of concepts, practices, procedures and transportation regulations used in Linehaul field operations, including DOT regulations
• Software skills, including use of Microsoft Office software and web-based applications
