Job summary

The University of Arizona on Tucson Campus is seeking a Research Technician IV (Temporary) to lead ecological restoration field work in the Altar Valley. You will oversee a small field crew, plant saguaros, deploy native seeds, and monitor vegetation while coordinating with managers and contractors to ensure safe, efficient field operations.

Responsibilities include data collection, mapping planting sites, and ensuring accurate data transfer to the office.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and ability to drive per university policy.

Responsibilities

• Lead field crew and sometimes co-supervise with a contractor in the field.
• Transport, transplant, and measure saguaros and map planting locations.
• Drive to field sites and occasional overnight camping.
• Oversee purchase and availability of field equipment; plan travel and logistics.
• Ensure accurate data collection and transfer of information to office staff.
