Job summary

Terracon in Texas is seeking a field/ laboratory testing technician to assist with soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel testing and inspection on construction projects. You will collect samples, document results, and communicate with the project team while upholding safety standards on site.

Under supervision, you’ll gain experience in test methods, data reporting, and equipment maintenance, with opportunities to advance to higher responsibilities as you grow your certification

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months experience in field or laboratory testing.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable history.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, steel).
• Communicate with project manager, engineering technicians, client representative, contractor’s representative regarding requirements and results.
• Transport material samples to the laboratory with documentation for testing and analysis.
• Tabulate, prepare, and submit data and observations in reports for daily transmittal to the Terracon Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles and work areas; assist with scheduling and dispatch of Technicians as needed.
• Adhere to strict safety standards and procedures.
