Job summary

Nikkiso Clean Energy & Industrial Gases in Huntington Beach, CA, is seeking a field instrumentation and controls technician to install, calibrate, test, troubleshoot, and commission skid-mounted process packages in an EPC-style environment.

You will work with engineering, fabrication, vendors, and commissioning teams, applying hands-on experience with instrument calibration, loop checks, PLC-based systems, and rotating equipment to ensure startup readiness.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, instrumentation, or related field.
• Hands-on experience with instrument calibration (shop and field).
• Experience with loop checking, electrical wiring, termination, and testing.
• Experience with PLC-based control systems (troubleshooting level).

Responsibilities

• Install, inspect, and commission field instrumentation including pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
• Perform instrument calibration in shop and field environments (transmitters, switches, gauges, RTDs, thermocouples).
• Execute end-to-end loop checks from field devices to PLC/DCS/HMI.
• Verify wiring, termination, grounding, and proper scaling and configuration.
• Support PLC-based control systems; troubleshoot logic and communications.
• Assist with HMI/SCADA validation and commissioning.
• Coordinate with OEMs and teaming partners during startup and integration.
• Review drawings (P&IDs, loop diagrams) and prepare as-built documentation.
