Job summary

Wagman is seeking a Field Heavy Equipment Shop Mechanic to join our Heavy Civil team at the Dinwiddie, VA Field Service Center. The Mechanic position is subject to travel throughout VA to our various job sites to support our operations teams.

The right candidate has a valid driver's license and 3+ years of heavy equipment mechanic experience in construction. You will inspect, repair, and test equipment including loaders, dozers, cranes, and backhoes.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years experience as a heavy equipment mechanic in the construction industry.
• Valid driver's license; CDL-B preferred.
• Ability to test repaired equipment and ensure operating efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and lubricate heavy construction equipment in shop and at job sites.
• Repair and troubleshoot heavy trucks and equipment (loaders, dozers, cranes, backhoes), replacing worn parts.
• Test repaired equipment to ensure operating efficiency.
• Diagnose and repair electrical systems.
• Assist in dismantling/assembling cranes.
• Perform preventative maintenance checks and inspections.
