Job summary

State of Wyoming seeks a Health and Safety Inspector to perform field inspections and investigations at worksites, identifying hazards and collecting samples to protect workers. You will use air sampling, noise monitoring, and ergonomic assessment techniques to improve safety practices statewide.

Responsibilities include investigating serious accidents, interviewing stakeholders, and preparing detailed technical reports to support enforcement and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Understanding of industrial hygiene principles and inspection procedures.
• Experience with air quality, noise, chemical, and ergonomic assessments.
• Familiarity with OSHA standards and enforcement practices.

Responsibilities

• Conduct health and safety inspections and investigations in workplaces.
• Develop sampling plans using instruments to assess air quality, noise, chemicals, radiation, ergonomics.
• Investigate accidents and complaints; document findings with reports and photos.
• Interview employers, employees, and contractors to evaluate hazard exposure.
• Evaluate safety programs for compliance with standards.
• Prepare technical reports and affidavits; ensure findings are legally defensible.
