The position requires a geoscience or engineering degree (or equivalent field experience), strong math and communication skills, and the ability to travel up to 75% as business needs dictate. Safety compliance is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in Geology, Engineering, Construction, or Earth Science from ABET-accredited program OR 1+ years of relevant geotechnical field experience as substitution for degree.
• Must have basic math, calculator, and computer skills.
• Effective communication skills and solid interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to read and understand work plans.
• Must be able to travel 50-75% of the time.
• Valid driver’s license with reliable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide field representation during Geotechnical Explorations of the subsurface.
• Develop and maintain client relationships and coordinate with subcontractors and PSI staff.
• Prepare subsurface exploration field drilling logs.
• Attend client site meetings and communicate with project teams.
• Work on one or multiple projects; perform on-site observations and collect samples.
• Occasionally work in laboratory settings.
• Adhere to safety practices and policies to ensure safety of self and others.

What are we looking for?

The Field Geologist/Engineer is responsible for performing a variety of assignments that include coordination of field activities with the home office, boring layout, utility clearance, oversight of drilling and sampling operations to project requirements, sample and subsurface logging of conditions

What you’ll do:

• Provide representation in the field during the execution of Geotechnical Explorations of the subsurface
• Develop close, interpersonal relation with clients, subcontractors, and PSI staff to execute work to project specifications
• Prepares subsurface exploration field drilling logs
• Maintains and leverages client relationships and develops new project opportunities
• Attends client site meetings
• Communicates effectively with client and project teams
• Works on one or multiple projects at a time
• Performs on-site observations, sample collection, and specific field tests
• May work both in the field and laboratory occasionally
• Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work

Minimum Requirement & Qualifications:

• If no experience, 2/4-year degree in Geology, Engineering (applicable engineering field), Construction, or Earth Science from an accredited / ABET school is required*
• *If no degree, 1+ years' experience in Geotechnical Drilling Operations and/or experience with site subsurface explorations or related activities may substitute for degree
• Must have basic math, calculator, and computer skills
• Effective communication skills (written, verbal and listening) and solid interpersonal skills are required
• The ability to read and understand work plans is required
• Must be able to work off shift and overtime as needed
• Must be able to travel as business needs dictate, 50-75% of the time
• Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record required
